Virtual holiday plan

27 Jul 2007 20:41

Anyone feel like a bit of organisational fun, especially you Icmeler regulars who know your way around.Plan our holiday. Even if you just plan a certain day.

We have never been to Icmeler before.

We are 2 adults in Icmelor from the 21st September for 10 nights half board (unlikely to eat evening meal in hotel)

We have a + - £100 a day budget.

We are 60ish but like to enjoy ourselves within reason (maybe even dancing on the bar with Gene)

A few of things we won't do, horse riding, quad bikes, bungies, water sports.

scorpioto,
Now thats someting I do enjoy, a little organised fun.
Not to heavy but plenty of my friends off ICR.

The parties are the best, no dressing up in collar and tie ,just Tshit and shorts.
Also a willing to "JOIN IN"

Gene

£100 a day

Thanks guys I was hoping some of you would know maybe special nights at particular restaurants/bars, places to see ect. We like to pub crawl but if we find a place with good entertainment we will generally stay the rest of the night, as you know sometimes a pub may have something special happening every Monday night but you only find out on Tuesday.

Can anyone advise us on any good day trips they have been on ( not fishing )

£100 a day isn't much if you go on a trip for £20/ per person, a few efes and the wife only drinks LARGE brandy and coke ( not local brandy either ) buy a little something from shops/markets, then a nice meal of an evening washed down with a lot of efes and cocktails. :D

You know what I mean don't you Gene

Hi Tony,
Most bars have something going on every night after 10pm.
Stella show is a good night out.
Deniz Kapisi next door to the Stella show is a fantastic karaoke night out.
Venice,Dreamboys and Majestic all on the canal have great entertainment.

Look at the list of trips ICR do.
Jeep safari
Boat trip
Day trip Akyaka

Go on the taxi boat to Turunc
Or the taxi boat to Marmaris.

We usualy have a meal in a restaurent then visit another bar for the boozing session.
Ive got the wife drinking pints, got her weaned off drinking expensive shorts and cocktails, but she still insists on chewing her baccy.

Hi Gene, 3 years ago we stayed in Marmaris, spent a few hours in Icmeler during the day, it seemed pretty quiet, caught the taxi boat back to Marmaris, we also went on an all inc. boat trip which we intend to do again also the safari trip. The wife likes a Karaoke ( our son has his own in the UK )

The wife can only drink a glass or 2 of beer then she is up and down to the toilet all night, thats why she stays on the little ones ( she isn't paying )

i would recommend a Turkish Bath on your first day!!! Gets the skin glowing for the rest of the holiday, it'll be as soft as a baby's bum and it's a great way to start any holiday!!!

They're generally around £9 and you can book them from the locals at the same time as booking a boat trip. Not bad for what turns into a couple of hours of bliss!!!

Hi Emma we intend to have one hopefully on the Saturday afternoon, we don't arrive until the early hours Saturday morning.

Stella Show is an absolute must - so too is a meal or few drinks in Deniz Kapsi

I would definitely suggest a stroll into Old Village - I love the Robin Hood restaurant for a quiet meal with conversation and calm music in the background. Robin Hood is abut 5 mins walk from the Crossroads -you'll know you're at the crossroads when you see the lovely old green car (there's some photos on the site of it)

If you love swimming then a day boat trip - you get to stop at bays throughout the trip - and if you're brave enough can drive in off the boat. For a more relaxing boat ride - and a lovely calm day, try to Dalyan trip. The goes on the Dalyan river through the reeds (was in the film African Queen). You can have a mud bath too if you want. A real contrast to the busy swimming trip.

ICR have a new trip which has an overnight stay - that looks brilliant though I haven't tried it. The Day Trip, Riverside, Gokova, Cleopatra are all good value and great experiences. You'll find plenty of offers in bars and your hotel for a Turkish night - make sure you choose a good one.

The food at the Prince Restaurant is to die for. Try the chicken cacciatore - absolute bliss. They have an excellent BBQ/ Turkish night on Thursdays.

If you haven't been to turkey before, you must try the dolmus - local minibus to get you around icmeler and into marmaris. There's one that goes up into Old Village too. I usually get the water taxi at the end of the canal by the bridge over to Marmaris and the dolmus back.

The market on Tuesday (or is it Wednesday?) is a must if like to shop or even just to experience it. Take comfortable shoes and plenty of water - it's covered but still gets very hot. There is a market in Marmaris too. If you like a more relaxing holiday I'd stick to Icmeler at night, Marmaris can get very busy and noisy - I hate crossing the roads there. It's also a very long road so you'd need to know where a restaurant was to get there.

Everyone I know who's had a turkish bath loves it - I can't (health reasons) so worth a try. You might also want to try a proper shave in one of the barbers.

I prefer quiet bars but you'll get loads of quiet and loud ones. Geordie bar is great - a bit of karaoke, game of pool if you fancy it or just a drink and a chat. Look out too for the Mitos apartments - their bar is so relaxing - this is on the canal. A stroll along the canal is great, there's bars/restaurants and shops and smaller seating areas where you can just sit and watch the world go by.

If you look on the ICR homepage you'll find all the excursions - some of them include a trip to a carpet or turkish delight factory - worth a look.

Scorpioto- on the ICR main page - look on the left hand side - there's a couple of maps (older and an updated version). These show hotels - not bars but if you search for bars - you'll find may people ask where bars are - the answers usually refer to hotels. I did have something from one of my holidays that I got from a tour rep - I'll see if I can find it.

Icmeler isn't that big and operates on a few roads really. Once you get your bearings you will be able to find places easily. And remember, half the fun is what you find for yourself.
Has anyone else got a map or bars for Scorpioto??
