I would only cash up enough for the flight and any bits you will need on the first day. You will get a better exchange rate in the resort than you will get here. The Turkish Lira has stableized over the past few years, there was a time when it was better to buy later in the day as it would have risen to a better rate by then!!!!
On our first visit to Turkey it was only TL125 to the pound then it rose over the years to TL 2.2 million.

Try http://travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com/ to compare the best rates, currently Tesco at 2.52, however go to each site as some are a little out of date.

I brought £100 from Travelex (collect at the airport on way out) at 2.5697 last week but it has dropped now to 2.4571 this morning. I too only take enough to last a couple of days and then we take cash from the cash machine (using Nationwide its free!!!). We find this works well for us. We also take £100 or so in £10 notes for some shopping. Di.

We were thinking of opening an account with Nationwide for this purpose.

I willl keep an eye on the rates over the next week or so and may order then to pick up at airport.

Jula - we opened our Nationwide account exactly for this reason. Was no problem did it on line. You don't pay any commission at Travelex if you order online and pick up at the airport. Diane
