Charly's

Charley's
Kenan Evren Bulvari, Icmeler.
Charley's is one of the best if not the best in Icmeler. Charley and Muslim,(real name Jimmy or Jemeel in Turkish) are very nice people and will do anything to make your experience a good one.
Food is very good, staff are very good.
Nori on the front is very entertaining if he is still there, can do almost any accent you care to mention.
Regular visitors can be seen year after year. Just look at the wall for all of the messages from happy customers (bit of a tradition)
Update,20th June. Just returned after 2 weeks. Nori has now been replaced by an English guy from Stockport (Dave), nice guy very friendly. Laura is also the new waitress, nice girl. Food and staff as good as ever. Anne and I went there quite a lot during our 2 weeks. More space now the other place is not in front of Charlies it has been turned into an estate agents

Charly's

Whats all this bad stuff I've been reading about Charly's, bad service, staff not very polite, mixed up orders, Dave at the front promising stuff that does not happen, overcharging for drinks etc etc. This cant be the same place we know and love must be the heat or something. Somebody needs to go round there to see Jimmy and Muslim (owners) and show them what is being said so that they can have a crack at sorting it out.
I have never known Izet or any of the staff to be impolite to customers in the 5 years that I have known them all.

Thanks for the quick reply Gene I knew I could rely on you. Yes we are talking about the same place next door to what is now an estate agent, Cartiers, below the Blacksea restaurant.
I just cant understand what is going on. I have known Jimmy and Muslim for about 4 years now. Seems to have gone wrong since Dave from Stockport was on the front touting for business, he tells everyone he is part owner, promises them the world, free this and free that, and when the punters dont get it, instant dissapointment.
But reading all of the bad comments is really upsetting because I know how good it is in there, we were there in June this year, and what nice people they really are, and now you have had a bad experience in there, Oh Dear Oh Dear what are we going to do!!!

Wont stop me going back even if it's only so that I can help them recover their good reputation. I,ve known them too long and they have become good friends over the years.

Has anybody been here recently to see if the bad reports that we have seen lately have changed anything yet?
Or has anyone got any good things to say about Charly's? Hope so, we like this place a lot.

I personally wouldn't eat there because of the new hassler on the front, small guy who worked at the mandalin before.
If you watch him when people don't go in, he swears at you when you have passed and is genuinly very rude, shame because we used it quite a lot before when we just fancied something like chicken and chips which was really nice and great value.

Andy,
What year were you at Charly's? The small guy, dark hair, could do all sorts of accents, who worked the front was replaced by Dave from Stockport in 2005 and he is quite tall, as far as I know he is still there. We were there in June 2005.

OK Andy, it does sound like Dave from Stockport did actually leave then. Must say though it sounds like he did create some problems there promising all sorts of things that couldn't happen and natuarally customers and staff would then get upset about it. Shame though we do actually like this place. Been going there for about 5 years now and never had a problem.
I think the guy you are talking about used to work in Marmaris before then went to work at Charlies then left to work at the Mandolin and now must be back at Charlies.
We were there the first 2 weeks of June 05, when did you go?

Andy,
Just remembered the name of the small guy that you thought looked like Sammy Davis. Short guy about 5 foot 2, black hair, largish nose, does all sorts of accents, His name was Nori, does this sound like him?

Charly's

Postby Norman » 26 Aug 2005 20:23

Thanks Beezerboy, I cant help thinking that people get confused sometimes about who is where and when. I felt sure with what I know and had read elsewhere that Dave was still at Charly's.
Maybe people are referring to Charlies Place and not Charly's.
Anyhow what was your experience of the place?
