GOLDTRAIL travellers beware (please read)

18 Jul 2007 11:39

we are booked ın to the grand saral or (abacus) as ıts now known. only to fınd out that the hotel had double booked us for three nıghts (we booked some months back).
we were not ınformed untıl arrıval even though the hotel and goldtraıl knew sometıme before thıs date. ı know u may thınk thıs ıs not somethıng to moan about but the entıre people on the coach have also been double booked (not everyone stayıng at the same hotel as us). Goldtraıl put us up ın a hotel called the bellmore whıch as they say ıs the same star ratıng as the saral but only found ıt to be worse than any run down hostel back home.

we are a marrıed couple and they gave us a twın room (two sıngle beds), no frıdge, no kettle and decour to laugh at, smashed balcony glass and floor tıles ın bathroom that would cut open your foot. we stıll have not heard from the hotel manager (he ıs avoıdıng everybody) ı smell a rat.

please ıf travellıng wıth goldtraıl phone before travel there customer servıce ıs appallıng and they are more ınterested ın sellıng boat trıps and turkısh baths.

as of yet we have heard nothıng from goldtraıl or hotel management about our concerns.

please please please be very aware of goldtraıl ı am not lyıng to you.

so far our holıday has been a shambles and we wıll have to repack our cases agaın to move ınto hotel.

There is one thing about stories like the one above it gives us all more of an incentive to book with an agent we all can trust.

No prizes for guessing who.

But ICR have a proven track record. 8)

Gene 10/10 for crawling

Sorry your holiday was'nt what you expected companies seem to think they can get away with treating people like cattle nowadays.

Not that I'm crawling but sometime the personal touch you get with companies like ICR are a safer and better bet. At least you can go to their office and complain in person  not that I think you would need to.

Sorry to hear of your experience,it was dreadful the way you have been treated

I have heard a few horror stories about Goldtrail, but from personal experience I found them to be fine. Stayed in apartments in old village which were great and the rep we had was excellent as well. No pushy sales pitch at all, once she found we had been about 8 times to Turkey, she simply advised if we needed her just to contact her.

Some Goldtrail apartments are dreadful, but if you do your research before you go and get put in the correct apartments that you booked. Maybe we were lucky as we went in May, slightly off season and little chance of being overbooked

Few years ago we went to Icmeler with Goldtrail - hotel, flight and transfers we all fine but the rep was blotto the entire time we were there! No one could get a word out of him for the fortnight and I understand he tavelled back to England on the day after we did!!!!

Sorry to here about your experience with Goldtrail Lee.
We couldn't get a cheap flight last Septembr so we booked a cheap package with Goldtrail. We landed at 4pm and even although everyone was on the bus to head to resort we had to wait on all the other passengers getting on theirs. The bus stopped at Dinlen for a comfort stop and then by the time we got to our hotel it was 8pm as the rep took her time with people who had problems with their booking. :(
We were only going to be staying at **** Hotel for 1 night as we had already booked to stay at Demircioglu but we took one look and went and moved into Demiricioglu straight away. We met with the rep the next day and told him what we had done and to say that we would be going back to the airport via private transfer.
You can guess what happened next, yep the coach arrived early in the evening to pick up a guest at the hotel next to **** hotel and we stood watching as the rep went into the hotel. I went and asked if she was looking for us and she said she was and why weren't we ready. She wasn't happy but i told her our rep had informed their office of our change of plans but obviously she wasn't informed.
Needless to say we don't book packages anymore. We are staying at Demiricioglu on 3rd sept for a week and can't wait

never again

We used Goldtrail last lear and stayed at Abacus Metropol hotel.

Personally, we had no problems with them. We never bothered with any mettings and did everything off our own back when we arrived, so didn't notice if the rep turned up or not! The transfers to and from the airport were as smooth as expected really, no major delays at all.

We booked the holiday as a last minute deal, and no complaints. Reading through this thread though, looks like we were lucky!

I think people have to perhaps get a little perspective on this. If something goes wrong on holiday it is dreadful and can spoil your 2 weeks.

Goldtrail and others, Thomson, First choice etc must fly many thousands on holiday each year and unfortunately on occasions things will go wrong, its a fact of life.If it happens to you that makes it all the worse. Now for the many thousands that fly, how many have their holiday ruined

Now some Goldtrail apartments are very poor, however of you do your research before you go and know what the apartments are like, hopefully things will be fine. I have been with Goldtrail now on 4 occasions and there have been a few minor mishaps, nothing major. Yes its a pain having to do the comfort stop on the transfer but I know about this when I book.
Basiccaly you get what you pay for, which with Goldtrail is generally basic accomadation. This year I paid £420 for myself and my wife flying from Glasgow for 2 weeks and staying in decent accomadation. This included flights, meal on plane, transfer and the accomadation. I doubt if I could get 2 weeks in Blackpool for that sort of price.
If you want luxury accomadation generally you need to pay a good bit extra. Personally I would rather have basic accomadation and with what I save, use this as extra spending money in the resort

Whoever you travel with I hope you enjoy your holiday

Very well put Stewart.

If the price is right, then why not. Like you say, do a bit of research before you book (especially if going for 2 weeks+) and this could save you any disappointment and give you a good idea on what to expect.

At the end of the day, it's forums like this that can help people no end in choosing where to stay, where to eat, drink, play and visit.

I aggree, with bringing out thousands of people from and to all over the world, things can go wrong, yet no matter how big you get, you should not have to loose the personal touch..

I only have one comment to Lee and this is coming from a personal pespective knowing both properties, you were better off with Bellemare than Saral so consider your self lucky.
