Hair Straighteners

Should I put my beloved GHD's in my hand luggage or in my case?? I couldnt manage without them but worried if I put them in my hand luggage and then get them taken off me!!. Any advice?

put your GHD in your luggage it will be safer, i am the same as you i would be lost without them, last year i put mine in my luggage dont think you are allowed to put them in your hand luggage they may take them away, i love Icmeler but could not go without my GHD

think it depends on which airport you fly from I wont be taking any chances this year they will go in my case rather then hand luggage

Thanks for replies, I think to be safe, I am going to take mine and I am going to pack my daughter's too, two pairs, so if one goes missing we have another pair. I know is sounds sound, but two whole weeks without straighters would be nightmare

Mine go in my hand luggage, couldn't bear it if I lost my case and they went missing

I need a cheap lighter pair this year though as mine are fab but heavy, any one got any suggestions?

While we are on the subject of hair, my hair tends to kink when in damp weather and drives me mad does anyone know if it is that hot am I going to have the same problems if so the hair is coming off into a bob. Any suggestions I am in a dilema

Yes I have that problem because of the heat/humidity my hair wont stay straight, I now have it in the "style of the moment" inverted bob, but still when I am warm or damp goes haywire! I often wonder if chemical straightening is the answer!. Anyway still cant decide whether to put my straighteners in hand luggage or Case!!. What a dilemma!

My GHDs always go in the case, however I always wrap a beach towel around them just to protect them

i have the same problem but this time bought avon advance straightning spray its not expensive and only a small bottle spray hair when wet then dry and straightnen hair was much better and it was really hot last week in icmeler but hair didnt kink kept straight all night
i took my straightners in the case on the way out,but coming home they went in hand luggage cause cases were too full

mine always go in my hand luggage, i couldn't leave the hotel without them! plus my mate takes hers as a back up!

I don't use straighteners, because my hair is so straight!!
I am undecided yet as to whether to have it cut short or leave it a bit longer

My hair flops so easily with the heat and swimming etc that I'm veering towards shorter to give it a bit of body.

What do you advise, Gene do you pack your straighteners?

Skilly I just carry around a clean bit of cloth and when needed just give my head a polish.

Gene, my other half uses the same technique as you - don't tell everyone though as it may catch on.

I always take my straightners but find that as fast as I'm straightening my hair, it's kinking again, due to the heat, and I end up all "hot and bothered".

The last few years I've started treating myself and tend to go to the hairdressers rather a lot - it's amazing what them lads can do with a brush, they get it just as straight as if they were using GHD's, and it's only a few quid - problem sorted

Has anyone ever tried the gas straighners? how long would they last? I have really long hair to straighten lol

I am a true northern irish girl with naturally curly hair. I use my faithfull straighteners daily. I also had problems with hair either frizzing or curling up in hmid conditions.

Over the years I have accrued a few handy hints:

1) after straightening smooth a pea size of your sraightening product over hair to tame frizzies and protect style. Redken smooth down is excellent, initially expensive compared to high street products (approx £12), however 1 bottle has lasted me over 1 year, and at the end of the day, unlike some cheap versions, it works!
2) Use an alcohol free hairspray. The acohol based hairsprays contain a lot of water and therefore add moisture to your hair immediately!
3) This suggestion sounds mental but is also effective. After staightening use a tumble dryer sheet , and gently run it over your hair. This decreases static, controls flyaway hair, protects slightly against moisture frizz, and if all else fails, it smells nice!!

Who knew there was so much to be said about straightening!!

Colette i used to have the Braun gas straighteners and took an extra gas with me as my hair was then quite long too, but to be honest when i got GHD's i wouldn't touch any other kind of hair straighteners as you don't get the same look

9 times out of 10 i end up leaving my hair culry or putting it in a pony as by the time i have straightened one half and start on the other in the heat the first side i done has gone all kinky again..arrrgh so frustrating or i straighten it and after sitting boiling in a bar for a bit it ends up scraped back in a pony tail lol

I take my straighteners in my case, I TRY to straighten my hair on holiday but with the heat my hair goes in a kink so I end up putting my hair up in some kind of style or french plaits etc my hair is long and when its hot my neck gets sweaty and I get frustrated lol so lots and lots of hair accessories are needed!!!
