Is it Quiet this year?

Postby robert123 » 03 Jul 2007 19:28

Going back to Icmeler for the third time 6th August, hearing some reports that things are a wee bit quieter this year and up to now it has not been a good season, last year was quieter than the year before, or as I suspect are things returning to a normal level, meaning that they year before last loads of people deserted other destinations and tried Turkey

Not sure what Icmeler is like as i've not been yet but my friend is just back from Side and in her whole fortnight there was only 3 other couples in the hotel which had 48 rooms! Her Rep said it had been very quiet this season.

Anyway i am sure Icmeler won't be quite in August when we all arrive LOL

When I'm "gazing" at the webcam it does look very quiet. It was very quiet last year but that just gives our "friends" more time to spoil all the regulars!!!!!!!!!

I guess with all this rain, people who were not going away this year will be doing so, I don't mind it being quiet, but feel sorry for all the shop keepers etc

I think Robert is right.... the appalling wet, cold weather we're experiencing in the UK at the moment which is set to last for a few weeks yet :( will be sending people to the travel agents in their droves in search of sun!

Apparently the only day it's going to be sunny and warm here is 15th July - so get those picnic hampers ready!!!

But my brother come back this morning, said it was quiet. They went to Coco Beach for a meal one night and there was them and only one other couple in there!!!!

We have noticed a big drop over the last 2 years, since the war began. I don't wish to get into politics but a know people here that won't go and try Turkey due to the fact it is a muslim country. We all know the truth about these lovelly people, all trying for us to have a great holiday and doing just that. However there are people who are blind and read to much into the media and class all muslim people as the same. How wrong people can be!!!!!!

Generally my friend travel agent says hols to turkey are down compared to places like mexico and dubai. She thinks the cheap flights to spain and portugal are a reason plus the transfer times from dalaman to marmaris are now more off putting and more recently the hike in interest rates are now another reason
