The wife and myselfe both noticed that although there was a clampdown on the bars and restaurents hasseling it was as though the jewelers had got a free reign and it was open season on the tourist.
Never before have I been stopped so many times by persistent frontmen at the jewellrey shops.
The clothes shops cant display goods outside their shops and yet the jewellers sit in rows outside their shops waiting like beast of prey for the unsuspecting victim.
Keep it up guys because it will be your turn next.

Dancing Lucy

was alos stopped at this jewellers probably by the same guy, a middle aged man slightly balding and well dressed. If it is the same guy he is a complete pain in the #**~. people like him simply annoy me and as a result I will not go into their shops to buy anything. Surely they must realise that many of us simply like to be left alone to browse and if we want any help will simply ask for it.

Sounds like same guy real pain that wouldnt take no for an answer and I really do hate being rude to people as I know they have to earn a living. They do seem to be getting away with it when bars and clothes shops are being punished we have a friend who is front man at hair salon he has known us for many years and knows hubby will go in for shave a couple of times during week so never tries to pull us in and this year he was afraid to talk to us outside the shop I had to go inside to talk.

I have just returned from a week in paradise with two friends and felt the hassle was worse from the hairdressers!!! you get a complex during the evening when you've made an effort to look and feel nice....then they say " we make your hair better" ....thanx a lot

We also visisted the Baron restaurant where we made very welcome by all the staff, with no hassle at all. We didn't feel that we had to eat there, but could simply say "hi" and stop for a drink. :D
We felt the police have taken it all too seriously, if there is no trouble then why not leave them alone.

my boyfriend is working there and he was telling me about this at the weekend
it really makes the season more difficult for them

Can anyone confirm that these closures are soley based on hassle, I have been told by some one who owns a place in Icmeler that eateries are being visited and inspected to see if they come up to scratch, and if they don't do the work in the time frame given then they recieve a 3 day closure?

Its a win or lose situation, im happy that they are being punished for constantly hassling tourists to buy from them, it can get really intimidating sometimes.
But on the other hand they rely on our business and not all of them will hassle as bad, but just joke around with you.

Whilst we were there last week the Anatolia (or something like that) on the corner opposite the Baron was closed due to the hasseler stepping off the entrance to the restaurant. He was apparently asking a family how their meal was when the police caught him and closed the place down for 3 days.

The hasseler was very angry when we went in there at the end of our holiday for a meal because he hadn't even been harassing the public he'd been chatting to a customer but the police wouldn't listen and closed them down anyway. He was also complaining that the staff at the Baron were always in the street hasselling the public and were never getting warnings from the police and he said that it's a case of being "in" with the police that allows you to get away with it.

We found that we were avoiding walking past the Baron Restaurant at night because their hassellers were that bad!!

At last yesterday the Baron Restaurant was shut for 3 days for hassling. How nice was that to walk round there and see the taped off restaurant.Sorry not usually vindictive but ths has been long comming for this restaurant.

Had to laugh when we passed the Anatolia last week, they had a notice saying they were closed for three days holiday (yeah right) Incidentally we walked past the Baron twice and the guy never even spoke to us, we both thought we had gone deaf. :D

my wife will / has never ate in a resturante where she could look at the menu without hassle .

06 Jul 2007 17:44

A Frend of my other half's has just come back from Mamaris and he said he would not go back there because the hassle was so bad, though he did enjoy his holiday. Told him to try Icmeler next time.

melissas

09 Jul 2007 12:42

last year me and my mum were hassled constantly to go in melissas, so one night we thought we would give it a go.
We ordered 2 cocktails (which happened to be the most expensive we had had in icmeler) and were confused when the waiter gave us 2 fimble sized glasses, not knowing what the hell it was we asked if they were freebies! and when he announced "no, its your cocktails" we were outraged, there was nothing there and they were really expensive! Never going in melissas again! :x
captain Bullshits for the cocktails all the way!!! :D

Whilst we were there last year we ate in Melissa's and it was the worst meal we've ever had whilst in Icmeler, my boyfriend's lasagne came and it was still frozen in the middle
