:D Hi
I've just joined. I've been visiting the site for weeks now since we booked our 1st holiday to Icmeler in August and just reading the postings has added to the anticipation of going.

We'll be staying at the Club Aquarium - I know by looking at other sites its not within the centre and is about a 15 min walk - which is fine. We can walk down and get poured into a taxi on the way back.

Anyone else been to these apartments? Any tips for our first ever visit to Turkey? There's 2 couples of us going, me and my pal are looking forward to buying some jewellery and the men are just generally looking forward to relaxing round the pool, going on a couple of trips, o yes and sampling the local beer. My friend and I are vodka drinkers - any good local ones?

All tips, hints etc on the best entertainment, places to eat, jewelers, trips would be gratefully received.

cheers
Ali

Hi Ali! Welcome to the forum, we have been going to Icmeler for the last 10 years and have always enjoyed it. You will find many like minded people here and lots of good advice.
We like to go on boat trips, I think ICR do some good ones. It's lovely just lying on a lounger on the top deck, I feel like I'm in heaven!
You must also try to go to Ephesus if you can, I think ICR also does a trip there.
As for the vodka, I am a voddy drinker and have never found a bad vodka in Icmeler :D
Hope you have a lovely time.

Hi Ali and welcome, like you Im new too but have been to Icmeler before. Youre in for a real treat I can tell you, you will absolutely adore the place and once youre home wish you were back again!!

Like you were staying not in the centre but about 10 minutes walk away but we love the stroll so not worried at all.

One of the trips that we did last year was to go on quad bikes, great fun and you usually get lunch too which is fab. Another trip was a fishing trip and Ive never ever done this but thoroughly loved it, its just so relaxing. The heat was unreal and we were allowed to swim in the sea whenever we wanted. Lazy Day boat trip is also great, top tip get a seat in some shade as the sun is unforgiving!!

Above all have a great holiday all of which will be made better by the wonderful Turkish people.

Welcome to the forum, you're going to love Icmeler. Tips I can give you,
Use a suncream with a higher factor than you're used to. The sun is POWERFUL.
Call into the ICR office to view their range of excursions.
Remember, when you order a vodka + mixer, they put a huge amount of vodka in the glass.
Do the lazy day boat trip but look for an all inclusive one, you can normally get the trip, lunch, and all drinks for about a tenner.
Tell the boys the only lager to drink is Efes (well chilled)
Haggle everywhere, including the jewellers, it's expected and the opening price will reflect this.
Icmeler market is all uphill, MARMARIS MARKET IS ON THE FLAT. :)
If you get hassle from the PR guys outside the restaurants a simple "no thanks" is usually sufficient.
Above all, chill out and have a great time.

Getting Excited now

Postby sunluvr » 19 Apr 2007 20:20

:o

Thanks to all who replied to my posting asking for info, tips etc. Your replies are most welcome and I'm getting quite excited just thinking about my hol in Icmeler. We've been to loads of different places; but this year I wasn't too well at the beginning of the year and began to look for a holiday that didn't cost too much to get to, with good digs and good write ups by the people who had been before. And lo and behold on one of the sites I looked at there seemed to be more positive write ups about Icmeler than any other. So my mind was made up - I just had to go. Phoned my pal and she felt the same - our men who can be a bit fussy - read the write ups - nodded their heads in agreement - and hey presto - we booked up! So cheers and happy holidays.
