Charlies place

Postby Canli » 04 Jul 2015 22:53

I've just read a post on an Icmeler site saying that Charlie's Place now has dancing waiters. Can anyone confirm this? It's never been that kind of place in all the years I've been going. Has it become Red Lion reincarnated now? It will be off my regular haunts list in September if it has

Didn't see any dancing waiters - just the pain in the backside of a front guy who used to be at the Red Lion and appeared to be carrying on in the same manner (ie, hassling people etc) as he did there. That was a few weeks ago though, so maybe it's changed since then?

Someone has sent me photos of alpacino and his sidekick strutting their stuff in Charlie's. Not a pretty sight! It looks like we'll be avoiding it in September. It's a shame, but the whole atmosphere had changed in may. It just wasn't welcoming any more :(

Looks like we'll be giving that one a miss in September.
Our friends liked the red Lion but for us is was a "try it once, then avoid" place. Now looks like they have spoiled another place.

We were there early July, and I noticed that there seemed to be a change at Charlie's. It looked like old, uncared for and unloved. Then we saw Mehmet working at Cupids. I just couldn't put my finger on it, but the place just looked different and in the evenings it was quiet. Then, a few days later, all became clear. A van was parked outside with a sign saying "Charlie's- now owned by The Red Lion"

Nuff said! Needless to say, we avoided.
