As far as I'm concerned it would be no loss whatsoever if the Red Lion never reopened - it's the one place I would never set foot in again in Icmeler, and funnily enough, in a similar discussion on Facebook the other day, the vast majority of people who commented were of the same opinion. Never seen so many people say they actually cross the road to avoid a place!
Yes the Red Lion is closed! Unfortunately, 2 or 3 of the staff responsible for most of the complaints are now working at Charlie's Place, a few hundred yards down the road

Yes unfortunately that is true...fortunately for me, the one I had a run in with didn't seem to recognise me this time!

Rightly or wrongly the Red Lion has a certain reputation, a lot of it concerning the front of house guy. I know many people will cross the road to avoid him. Just wondering how this may affect Charlies Place which has a decent reputation

Sadly Charlie will lose business if he keeps those people on. We usually go in nearly every day, but only went a couple of times for a drink when passing. We spoke to several people who said they would either go, and tell Charlie what the problem was, or just not go in at all. We did have a word with him, and if he has the same staff in October, we'll be going elsewhere. The one guy was stood on the steps smoking all the time and then walking straight in and picking up customer's food and serving it. His methods of "persuading" customers in left a lot to be desired, especially if you were sitting at the front and had to listen to it every time anyone walked past. I've never crossed to the road to avoid anyone, but I could make an exception in his case. I just hope Charlie realises his mistake before it's too late.

Need to keep an eye out for that. Someone told me to avoid the Red Lion at all costs. Im sure we ate in Charlies last year, but if people are being morons at front of house I just walk on, if it hits custom then they will not be there long
