Evening All ... And no I'm not a Policeman! Lol 
I've only commented once on this post way back, but have been reading daily and feel the need to butt in as it's all getting a bit nasty in my opinion and serious ... Which isn't usually the case on here
Basically, like others have said it's each to their own and regardless what's been said already or what may be said in the future i personally can't wait to be back 'home' in 10 days time and myself and Mrs G will have a fantastic time (as usual) and come home having had a great 2 weeks!
This is regardless of the 'Noise/Entertainment' Police that are apparently patrolling the Bars and Restaurants, I'm sure there'll be plenty still going on and if and that's a 'BIG IF' we get bored and want something a bit more lively we'll head into Marmaris and live it up as if we're Teenagers again
... But we're in our 40's and doubt that'll be needed but it's there as an option ... Maybe!!
I think as I've said everyone needs to 'chill' and let people's Holidays hopefully go how 'THEY' want, regardless of all this 'Scaremongering' that's being posted ... Yes, people who have been already have decided to 'complain' on here that Icmeler isn't the same due to the supposed changes, but that's their opinion and 'NOT' others as yet .... Let everyone decide once back and if individuals hate it then they'll vote with their Feet and discover some other magical place ..... Maybe!!! ... Either that or the Mayor reverts the changes!!

I agree with Ian. The thing is Icmeler had something for everyone so why want it to change. If you are happy with the changes then you could not have liked it before as it had music, entertainment etc. Its not as if it was blasting out til the small hours. I would not have enjoyed that and why would I bring my family there. I can honestly say the only person who I spoke to over the last two weeks who was happy with the changes was my friend who lives near a bar but like she said to me "I depend on tourists to make my living so I can live with a bit of music for six months as after all I choose to live in a tourist resort". It follows to reason that less people going means less income for bars, shops and eventually local government so its shooting themselves in the foot. There was nothing wrong with Icmeler before as was proved in the fact it was so popular. What I still don't understand is if it was so downmarket before with loud music and tacky shows why go back year after year? Every holiday resort I have ever been to caters for all sorts of tourist. The idea being appeal to the widest possible market. If you like a lively place fine, if you like a quiet place fine but Icmeler is big enough for both. We nicknamed them the "fun police" in that it seemed like they wanted to stop anyone having a dance or singalong.

As said in a previous post our family of 5 have been going to icmeler for years and had already booked for August 2015 as unable to go this year for various reasons. Today we have paid to amend our booking to a different resort as the Icmeler we know and love is no more. We may have jumped ship too soon but like most people the money for our holidays is hard earned. We also might not like the place we have now booked, but at least we won't be sat in Icmeler night after night constantly comparing it to other years. Our family feel sad and angry about these changes to what we considered to be the most perfect holiday destination, and can only live in hope that the place is restored to its former glory and quick. The presence of the noise police is absolutely ridiculous, what is it with this mayor, scared incase anyone actually enjoys themselves on holiday, perish the thought!

Just to add a twist, of a sort, and having not been for 2 years I can't comment on the changes, but I think Icmeler on a whole has been getting quieter for a few years now!
You only have to look on this very forum to see that!
It didn't matter what time of year you posted a question, within half hour you'd have had many replies/views!
That's just not the case now, and there seem to be fewer and fewer posts and replies!
You could post a question on a Monday, and if nobody was able to answer, you'd have to scroll 2 or 3 pages down to find your post, where as now, the same post would still be on the main page 2 or 3 days later.
Just my thoughts is all.

I have been back about ten days now, been going to icmeler since 1998 and have noticed the changes over the years, As blondie says dont judge until you have been as you will be suprised at the changes, it didnt affect our holiday, we didnt miss the market, the dancing boys etc and still has the charm it had when we first starting going. As for the fourm being quiet it has alot to do with facebook pages being opened all the time there are so many of them. I try to come on her as often as i can but due to commitments at home i am unable to anymore. As i say dont be put off by the scaremongers icmeler is just ass fantastic as last year in fact even better

I think the problem here is when people come back from resort and say there are no changes. There are changes to music and entertainment but I suppose the people who don't notice the changes never went to the livelier bars maybe so don't necessarily notice there is a change. Everyone goes on holiday for different things. Thats the nice thing about going on holiday we all have a different agenda. Each to their own I say. I still enjoyed my holiday but comparing it to the last few years it is definitely not the same. There are a lot of police around and if the bar owners even try to turn the volume up slightly they arrive in a flash for a "chat". Apparently they are issuing on the spot fines and if you get a few they can close you down. The owners are constantly on edge as are the staff. As I have said before if you went last year and went to the quieter bars then fine. I like them too but I also like to have the choice and not feel on edge looking for the police as I did start to do. I still love Icmeler though and I am going back in August (booked before this holiday). Fingers crossed that the same mix of bars can be reinstated. Therefore we would all be happy surely?

I have not seen anyone on here say that they do not actually want a certain type of bar so there is no argument for the music back or not
All I am saying is that it is nothing to do with a music ban that is keeping people away at the moment
Not everyones head is stuck in a pc so do not read forums or facebook pages so they would not say "oh look no waiters dancing I am not going there"
Sue has given an answer for the lack of interest in the forum of late and I think that she is correct as the forum was made to keep people in touch with each other after leaving Icmeler and also to keep people informed with what is happening in the resort but as facebook pages opened which are more gossip in my eyes than a forum there is more info supplied there even of a personal nature and seems people would rather read that
We will not be going anywhere, we are still here for information and for lively banter
Oh and my own personal opinion not that it counts for much is, I should imagine that the police will disappear eventually as all councils have a budget and I doubt very much if it involved paying police to neglect the duties that they were originally enlisted for

I'm in resort at the moment, it is a lot quieter, the lack of "entertainment" is noticeable. However saying that it has not affected our holiday or enjoyment. It has made us move further afield. We always seemed to go to the same favourite places, whilst here this time we have spread ourselves further, going to restaurants & bars never before frequented by us. We still go to our favourites but trying new places has all added to our enjoyment. We may never have tried anywhere new if the changes hadn't occurred. Home in 3 days time, counting down to our September visit now.. Can't wait to come back.

As jt says there is alot of fb page some of them you would think hated icmeler the way they carry on and some spread gossip and scare people away. I am guilty of not being on here much but jt does know my reasons and hopefully understands why. Hopefully I will be able to post my review and my views shortly when I get back into a routine

I have read your thoughts nad have to take the opposite viewpoit from yourself. I have been going to Icmler for past 10 years and have welcomed the the changes. I am also aware of a good number of people who have also been this year and also thought the changes were for the better. I am talking about people who ahve been going to icmeler for 15 years plus.
I do understand your point however that previously people had a choice and to a large extent that choice has now been taken away. Again my personal opinion the entertainment was very poor and also very repetitive, but again i concede that some people did enjoy this.
i was there from 20 may until 3 june and i thought the resoprt was about as busy as it had been in previous years. the apartment I went to normally only have about 3or 4 rooms booked thsi year it was 14 out of 18. The bars that i go to, Tin Tins, Sabris were just as busy. Some of the restaurants i ate in were busy, Sidiks, Holiday,Romance,Meryem. I agree that the busy bars normally Venice, Bamboo Friends and Majestic were a bit quieter than normal.
As JT advises, it may be bacause of the recession but places all across Europe are struggling a little for numbers. people also have greater choice of where to go, people are now going to far east which would not have happened say 10 years ago.
Maybe some of those who are not going to Icmeler because of the loud music, may start to come back
There have been many changes over the years many for the better, the new square the new prom, the new square near tansas. The loss of the market is a bit of a blow as I know people loved to go there just for the atmosphere and fun.
Dont think Icmeler was ever downmarket as such but I thinkn to an extent it may have been heading towards just being another mediterranean resort. Again just my personal opinon, but I do not like the introduction of "football bars" as they have in Marmaris and other resorts.
Will I go back to Icmeler again, of course as I do prefer a more laid back resort. I also think the mayor is trying to raise the standards of Icmeler maybe evn take it back to being a slightly more traditional Turkish Resort, which some will like others will not.
As has been said may times on this thread, do not pre judge before you go. make the most of your holiday and go with an open mind, make new friends

Like I said previously each to their own and to me that was the attraction of Icmeler. I for example don't miss the markets or even the canal stalls but others I can see think it is a real shame they are gone. Yes the entertainment was repetitive but my young kids loved the shows. A family holiday is about the whole family and everyone enjoying themselves. We went in Romance and Bamboo on our last week (first week in June) and it was starting to pick up. We also went to quieter bars some nights. I suppose from my point of view it is about keeping the kids happy and entertained. Its still a beautiful resort. The changes to the square over the last few years are good. This is my 5th year so I suppose I am not a veteran yet ha!! I am looking forward to my August holiday. I am bringing my whole extended family and I suppose my worry was I had told them about the entertainment etc, and now its gone but we will still find plenty to do I am quite sure Roll on August as I am missing Icmeler already!

We came back on thursday after spending 17 days in Icmeler and loved every minute of it , ok it was quieter than we,d seen before but we were out a week earlier than usual ,and there were less people around, but that seemed to change over the last weekend of May,more people arriving each day, anywhere you go is judged on how your attitude is , if you go with a negative mind your not going to enjoy it , we loved our time there and will be booking up for May 2015 as soon as monarch release their flights in a couple of weeks.Bar owners we spoke to arnt worried about the changes, and think everything will end up better for everyone when people have got used to them, those still to come this year, chances are you,ll hardly notice any changes, come and enjoy,you know it makes sense.

This is just my experience of the changes to our Icmeler.
Just returned from icmeler. The icmeler we love is still there, during the daytime everything is the same as it's always been.
Ok, there is no Wednesday market selling clothes, shoes etc. did we miss it ? To be honest, no. Got everything we wanted from the many shops, at bargain prices.
Nighttime in icmeler is a different matter. The changes are very noticeable. The owners we spoke to are worried about the loss of customers. The places that relied on the entertainment bringing in customers were noticeably empty. Majestic, never seen so few people in there, Venice, full 'till 10pm whilst people eating, then almost emptying. Bamboo (old dream boys) empty. However Florida was full to the brim each and every night, all night.
These are just a few examples. The reason for the lack of customers may be due to the changes, it may be due to it being early in the season or it could be that people can't afford to go on holiday. The beaches were emptier than we've ever seen them.
The owners are trying very hard to please everyone, sending out lookouts, posted either end of the canal with walkie talkies, sneaking entertainment on whilst no police patrolling. We saw lots of police up and down, walking, on scooters in vans.
Saying this....
We have still had a great holiday, the changes did not bother us. In fact we visited some restaurants & bars we've missed out on in the past. It hasn't changed our love of the place, we will return in September & again next year.
Go with an open mind, you will still enjoy Icmeler. We have returned home very relaxed and very relieved that the changes have not spoiled our enjoyment.

Isnt it funny when you read someones opinion on something especially when its something positive you feel good and "up for it" then you read a negative point it could make you think differently
and the seeds of doubt are sometimes sown, its like a holiday review there could be a dozen great ones and one bad one and as I said it makes you think should I go for it or not, but hey theres a lot of you guys out there who have been going to Icmeler a lot longer than we have and you still keep coming back for more.
