This is driving me and Mr M mad.... After 20 or so visits to Icmeler, we can still not find out what this place is/was.
When on the taxi boat going to Turunc there is a very large ghostly
hotel in the middle of nowhere on the right as you leave Icmeler, if you walk up the road leading up to it, it is blocked off with what looks like a checkpoint !! Turkish locals don't seem to want to talk about it. Can anyone throw any light on the matter, please

i saw it years ago going to turunc,i asked about it and was told some business people and footballers had put money into for a private retreat, then had a dispute etc over something so it was left to rot, don't know how true it is but i can only say what i was told

I heard it was built but planning permission was never granted for it, hence why it still as it is!
How true it is I don't know, but it was a local on a boat trip that told us!

I have heard a few different stories over the years - variations on the running out of money and planning permission ones, usually. Seems such a shame...very eerie looking place. Imagine it as the setting for a horror film...

Hi all; You can only get to the building via boat.We tried to venture in through the road gate about 5 years ago but the place was totally overgrown and the road/path just petered out. Didn,t fancy wandering about in the jungle for two or three days without any EFES,S
We hired a boat the next year and on our way to Turunc we stopped off on the beach but not a lot to see, all boarded up and overgrown. Maybe some of you are a bit more adventurous (and braver) than us. Cheers.

There are two 'ghost' hotels. The huge one that you see from the boat to Turunc, which also has the checkpoint.
There is another one however just round from the harbour one the way to the other
hotel checkpoint.
There are lots of derelict apartments built close to the cliffs and a amenities block with small beach across the road. This area always seems to be guarded when we pass.

Yes I know the one, it looks odd in such glorious surroundings. I always thought it was an abandoned prison, or asylum, or old government building, but interesting if it was a hotel, nice building that needs some tlc, could be a nice, exclusive resort.
