Entertaiment

Postby swc24 » 03 May 2014 07:50

Good Morning All

I have read on other forums that the new Mayor is stopping the entertainment in resturants and also stopping the guys who work in the bars from dancing in them.
Tourist will be able to get up and dance in the bars only.

What are your views on this, will this stop your enjoyment?
Do you think it is a good thing?
How about the guys who go around doing the entertaiment how are they going to earn there money?

I belive the police have been going round explaining the new rules.

They owners are being given the choice resturant only or bar with entertainment.

Look forward to your views

Won't stop my enjoyment to be honest, we prefer the small bars like a Eddies, Kactus, Sabris to chit chat with each other and have a laugh.

Although I do like to watch some entertainment, the ones that go round to places being paid, I couldn't watch it every night!

It will be interesting to see how this will work this year, they tried it last year but no notice was taken!

It will be a good opportunity for some like Maestro that has Heavan bar next door and Tandoori Sizzler with Scottia bar. Eat in the restaurant then just move into the bar.

I think everyone needs to wait and see how this is going to affect places - the season has only just begun, so it's far too early to make any judgements right now. There will still be entertainment - people will still have the choice of livelier places or somewhere quieter. Icmeler has such a wealth of different places catering for all different tastes that I'm sure there will still be somewhere for everyone.

As we have children my first thoughts are oh no!. This is because we like to go somewhere for a nice meal then watch the entertainment that they have afterwards without the "hassle" of going somewhere else afterwards and having to find somewhere to sit in what by that time would be a busy bar. A nightmare with children. I cant see any sense in it. We always go self catering and enjoy eating out on a night time rather than just eating in the apartments as the self catering accommodation tend to only have entertainment on just once a week. Its part of our holiday and really enjoy it and think that if we couldn't eat and then watch entertainment in the same place if we wanted, would spoil it a bit. Taking the choice away from us. I also think that surely the restaurants would loose out as well as people who did want entertainment would finish a meal then move on rather than staying and spending money on drinks for the rest of the night. How will they gain this loss back?? By putting the price of meals up?? Then people would look for cheaper or be more inclined to book all inclusive as it wouldn't be such great value going self catering anymore. And also all inclusive places tend to have entertainment programmes for every night.
I can't see how this can be made into a positive change? Its not like the music and entertainment goes on all night. People lkke entertainment on holiday and personally like to be able to eat and be entertained in the same place. Maybe a different variety of entertainment would be nice so there is more choice on that side of things but I think why fix whats not broken?

The new mayor sounds like a real killjoy if this is the case. I love the entertainment, and the boys dancing in the bars.
This will put a lot of people off for certain.

Agree that he sounds like a right Barrel of laughs! .. Will he soon change his mind if his Towns tourist business dies of death, as we choose a 'new' resort instead? ... Everywhere in Icmeler who offer 'live' entertainment are courteous and DON'T go dancing on Tables etc whilst people are having their Meals ... So why the big issue??

Places like Tandoori Sizzler don't do any entertainment in the Restaurant and ONLY next door in the Scotia Bar .... Howay, Mr Mayor get a grip, as once we've gone, we've gone for good if you spoil it for us!!

Just been reading something from someone who's in the resort at the moment and says some of the restaurant/bar owners are actually looking on this as a positive move, so who knows, it might not be as bad as people seem to fear...

Here here! Well said geordie.
Someone said on anothet forum "alot of changes are taking place and none of them for the better" first taking the market away now messing with the entertainment. Like geordie said get a grip mr mayor, you should be aiming to please your tourists keeping them happy and looking to attract more tourists not drive people away. Dont the turkish relay heavily on the money from tourists to see them over the winter?

In the end the restaurants can apply for the correct licenses, get an entertainment license and I understand it's ok, sounds like similar rules to the UK if you ask me.

What the mayor and others in power need to ask themselves are a few simple questions.....

Why do we keep getting the same faithful visitors year after year..
What can we do to keep them coming....
What do we need to do to attract new people...

The answer is....nothing, we all obviously liked it the way it was, otherwise we would have moved on years ago.
I'm all for improvement where there is room for improvement, but when you have perfection already, why try to fix what's not broken.

We used to go to the small Greek Islands for many years, then it all changed and we stopped going along with many others.
Thought we'd found heaven again in Icmeler, we'll see.

Interestingly, I read something from someone who works in one of the restaurants today and he seems to think this could well be a positive thing for the resort. As Dave said in his post, if they apply for the proper licences, then they can carry on providing entertainment. I must admit, I'd be a bit annoyed - to put it mildly - if I was a bar or restaurant owner there and had gone to the trouble of getting all the proper permissions and licences, only to watch others flouting the rules...

Anyway, it is still very early days yet and I'm pretty sure that once the season is in full swing, there will still be entertainment for those who want it...

Yes the same was said about the entertainment last year. We know that a lot of the dancers are fed up with dancing and would just rather serve drinks and meals. In saying that I personally enjoy the entertainment. I have kids and they really look forward to it each night. I had heard that the mayor is very traditional and wants to It revert back to a more traditional resort. I think it would be a shame and just like we moved on from Spain etc people will move away from Turkey. I have been going for years now and every year flights get more expensive, drinks get more expensive which is to be expected but it seems the mayor is a bit of a killjoy. There has to be a reason to go back each year and if all these small changes continue then without a doubt people will vote with their feet! I hope its just a rumour as I go in 3 weeks!

Personally I detest the dancing waiters but I appreciate that there are many who like it.

With regards to prices going up, I would really disagree with that. With the excellent exchange rate at the moment a pint of beer can be had for about £2. A typical chicken set meal can be head for about £6 /£7 which easy competes with the Euro zone

Accomadation is also very reasonable although the flights are a tad on the high side
