Icmeler online forum

Postby smc4761 » 22 Sep 2013 18:07

Is it just me or does the forum seem a little quiet these days. I can remember a few years ago there were plenty of posts each day now it seems to be a trickle. Even the reviews are few and far between compared to previous years, only 17 reviews from this year, ;ast year was almost 50

I log on most days and love reading about others experiences

I think it is quite quiet - possibly down to the increase of groups on places like Facebook and so on. I log on most days too and have noticed fewer reviews and so on this year. Pity, as I think this is a great source of information and help to everyone, whether it's your first visit to Icmeler or your 100th

It's definitely quieter. This year by checking once a day there would be a few new posts. In previous years I would check a few times a day. Also there are a few names that no longer post that used to post frequently. I thought that perhaps it was because a lot of people can no longer go on holiday and so by going on the forum they miss Icmeler even more

I agree with all that has been said in the previous posts and also feel that the number of groups on Facebook is where many of the members now post. I have never known this forum to be so quiet and as it is a valuable source of information I do hope that people keep posting.

I did try the facebook sites but did not enjoy at all> This site is far superior and the friendlyness and useful information is what makes this so much more enjoyable

I agree that it's been very quiet on here this year? .. I log on most days generally and try to leave a post where possible ... I'm not on Facebook (you should see my face! Lol) so this is a good place for us all to share our good & bad experiences with fellow members!

Only 5 more sleeps until me and Mrs G arrive for a week and 2nd visit this year .... Only came back 12/7! Lol

I still check the forum several times a day,but am also guilty of being on several FB pages.

This is still an informative website and you also have the ability to be able to book a Full package holiday,or just Flights,Hotels and Transfares and a host of excursions avalliable along with the first class service ICR supply
It is up to us members to post more.
I have only managed one visit to Icmeler this year and that was in June, the wife hasnt got the same love for the place that I still have.
We have 2 weeks booked for May/June next year but I also want to bring our Ann in August to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary on the 29th but still working on her.

Happy postings all.

That would be lovely, Gene - we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in Icmeler - I think it would be a fab place for you and Ann to celebrate your Golden Wedding, especially with all the memories of your previous visits.

I miss Genes posts along with other "regulars" that are now not as regular

Lots of things come into the equation really that would make the forums quieter

Trip advisor is the same as I do now check both to see what questions are being asked and if they are the same

Money is the biggest issue I think and the way the economy is going or gone and the way flight companies have put their flights up because UK people stayed home this summer because they actually had one is another

Facebook pages are fine and keep certain people going but I don't think it harms "proper" forums like this as all I see on the facebook pages is one word replies and some gossip etc though I know that the people running these pages do put a lot into trying to keep them going with info but seems to be to me a lot of repeat stuff and also lots of advertising

If its what you want then its there but unless information is not controlled and chanelled I think it is a waste of resources

Thanks to all that still pop in through the "lean times" though

I nearly forgot to add

For the people that have not posted much but have read a lot, you too are part of our community but one thing that everyone must understand is that, once a person such as Gene or myself have written or posted photos so many times then Icmeler is a very small place and it is really hard to post again new stuff unless you post about daily goings on in bars or about people and then that turns to gossip and then we are no longer a forum for information and may as well be a gossip column or facebook chat page

We need new input so all you people that normally read, dig out your holiday snaps and get posting, we don't bite :D

I agree with you about the constant "advertising" of certain places on Facebook - it gets a little wearying to say the least. What also irks me is the "cliquey" nature of some of the groups - anyone who dares write anything less than complimentary about certain establishments is instantly shot down in flames by posters who obviously have close links with the place in question.

I suppose we are all guilty in not posting reviews. I haven't done mine yet, and we came back on 2nd September, but I will definitely write a review because I think they are a valuable source of info for either new visitors, or to regulars who maybe fancy a change in accommodation.
Its also a catch 22 if not many folk posting, then there is not much to respond too. :D

I still check every day, but guilty of not posting much due to not having been able to go at all this year. We are in hope of returning next year, but if not then it will definitely be 2015.

I still love to read the reviews when posted.

Well I'm back nosing around the Icmeler forums... Didn't come to Icmeler last year, but going back next year. Booked the Babadan Hotel through ICR and have already used the search box to see what I can find out about them... Find all the advice, suggestions and tips on here and TA very useful. Have missed the Turkey forums... They cheer me up and enjoy reading the post and the banter between members... long may it continue... 8)

I too am guilty of reading and not posting , again probably because of not being able to go this year. I have booked for 2 weeks next June so really looking forward to it and again will be bringing 3 new Icmeler recruits next year. Of course I will do the daily blog when there , as I seem to be the one that started them it would be rude not to lol. I do miss Icmeler and I do pop in to the forum every day , I also check the facebook pages and while they are entertaining they are just not quiet as informative as this forum.

Yes guilty here also :( , I do nip in for a read now and then but we have had holidays in Lara Beach, and Bodrum since our last visit to Icmeler so found the want to visit the forum less over the years. Next years holiday is to Hisaronu and Dalyan so I doubt I will be on much in the future.

One thing for sure is that Icmeler wins hands down compared to Lara, Bodrum and no doubt over Hissy and Dalyan when we eventualy visit next year, but life is to short for us to keep visiting Icmeler year on year and Turkey has so much to offer. Infact I am not even sure if Icmeler will be the same as we remember it to be when we eventualy visit again. I do miss the old village its surroundings and the people so we will return again just not sure when :(

Yep. I've found it quieter this year too. I log on a couple of times a week, just to see what's happening, and maybe to see if I can give any answers to people's questions. Also, to try and find new things to write about on next year's blog!! I'm guilty of the Facebook thing. I was on three separate fb pages, but left two, cos it just seemed to be people arguing, and as John says, there seemed to be so much repeat advertising of the same places. So I'm only in one group on there now, though I prefer this forum anyway. I'll say this though, there must still be something very special about the place. Next July, I'm booked into apartments I stayed at this year, in a resort I've been going to for five years, and I STILL log in every couple of days!!! In the meantime, if I can work out how to upload some pics from this year, I will do, but to be honest, I'm a bit thick!!!

I am also guilty as charged m'lud :) Had a really busy year this year, alongside some general laptop issues that haven't helped. I promised a review from June and didn't deliver, and didn't post any pics from then as it seems my camera was only working when taking pictures of cats on that trip! I have been a reasonably regular reader but again, it's that chicken and egg thing, if there isn't anything posted to reply to..... and on it goes.

But - can I just say please - and I know the reasons why this is done, to keep the forum tidy and all that - I've responded to a few posts around the general theme of visa's and these were amalgamated into a single thread. This then appeared in posting date order and made absolutely no sense whatsoever as it was 3 different things all about visa's. Maybe perhaps seeing this might possibly discourage others from joining in or adding?? I don't know, just a thought.... :). Lots of subjects get moved from this part of the forum too - and again, I know the reason why... - but, it's easy to miss the other areas and the other posts too. Just my thoughts, I know why, but I personally think sometimes this makes it look a little quieter too.

I'm heading out again on Monday. I shall do my bestest to make a little time to at least post a review on my return if I can't add anything else. Right, best get ironing those holiday clothes.... :)

We left the apartments the day you arrived. We've also booked again for three weeks next year and after reading your blog, the entertainment seems to be sorted
