Not out there but we always play it by ear (so to speak) as to whether we need air-con or not. Some aparts can be cool enough without paying for it. Never pay for it on arrival, just check it out the room first for maybe the 1st 24 hours.

We've never paid for air con. Where we are going this year (Grand Aquarium) they put it on for free for 3 hours per day (7am-10am then 6pm-9pm) so we just use that as we are getting ready for the day/evening. They only have it on in the lounge area anyway so a bit pointless having it on when you go to sleep, besides, after a few Efes and cocktails we don't have a problem sleeping in 30 degree heat lol.

Last year we were fine without it and that was in August. You'll soon get used to it.

All down to personal choice and how you cope with the heat, I think - personally, I'd never be without aircon, but I'm one of those people who would rather be too cold than too hot. As bikerjambo says, try giving it a day or two and see how you get on, then if you feel you need it, you can always get it for the rest of your stay.

I doubt you will need it this early on to be honest. End of June, July and August you would be more likely to need it.

Thanks all for replies.Yeah,we deffo need it when we go in August! :lol:Don't usually go this early in season, hence why we weren't sure. Also staying further back in resort [Eden Garden] Don't know if this makes a difference. Interesting about free air con, never had that anywhere. As someone else said if enough alcohol consumed sleeping won't be a problem I'm sure

Mrs Toon just ordered me to get the aircon for the rest of our stay as it is so hot. Mind you, forecast is going down for the rest of the week

Anyone know how much air con is generally? I know each place will be different but it's just to give me a rough idea. We're going to Demircioglu (Vince's Place) in July so think we will need it :D

I always get air con, without fail, last year in June it was over 50 degrees during the day, i cannot sleep in heat like that, think i got it free this year anyway in the Pinewood, at least it don't say i have to pay according to Thompsons brochure.

Luckily at the Grand Aquarium we get free air con twice a day from 7am to 10am, then 6pm to 9pm! As it's only activated when the key is put in the slot on the wall (as are all the electrics in the room) we've never bothered paying for it.

This suits me just fine as it's on when we are getting ready in the morning and later on for when we are getting ready to go out at night. The last two years when we've been to Turkey we've never bothered with it (yes even in August). I find if you drink enough Efe's I can sleep fine lol.

[edit] Just realised I've basically repeated exactly what I wrote earlier on in this thread (I thought that was on another forum lol). Maybe I'm just getting old and the ol grey matter is failing me

Does that mean you leave the room at 9pm and don't get back till 7am?

Not quite lol. We usually go out for breakfast (usually down to the hotel restaurant as it's nice food) then go back to room to get ready for the day ahead (beach/pool/excursion etc..) then back to room around 7ish to get showered and ready for the night. Average time we got back to room last year was around 1am-2am, then sleep (without air con).
