I suppose that there is a few ways you could interpret that
600 cigarettes
600 20 packets of cigarettes
600 cartons with10 x packets of 20 cigarettes in each
you could go on

Last year we had the ongoing never ending story of the membership cards, this year this, I can't remember the year before as I think my mind was eventually melted with that one
What could be in store for 2014

At the risk of distracting everyone back to the OP, last week we were the only plane landed at Dalaman. Lots of staff milling around, none of them giving any of us much attention at all, straight through the doors and out. Perhaps they are keener when it is busier and the Brits think they can mingle into the crowds?

Hi thanksfor your replies
Itis a bit confusing but i have found out that if i take a trip to rhodes any cigs brought back from there ,as its in the E.U. can be bought back to the U.K. on top of your duty free allowance.
And that info comes straight from HMRC

Reports on facebook today that the late Thomas Cook Flight that landed early Tuesday morning had people being stopped, some bags were scanned, others were opened and others just walked past so they definatley seem to be increasing their checks.

You can bring back 200 duty free. The ones bought in Rhodes have had duty paid on them to the EU so as long as you keep your receipt to prove that they were bought there, then they would be allowed on top of the 'duty free' allowance.

I can understand what Tim is saying, nip over to Rhodes for the day and buy 1000 cigs, legally you can only take 200 back into Turkey however if you get away with taking them into Turkey you will not have an issue bringing them into the UK as tax is paid, the issue is entering Turkey.

Aggghhhh cant take it any longer I have to say something
2 issues Dave
One issue is getting them in from Rhodes which at just on £40 a carton is a big chance but then................
You have to take a chance on getting them past customs again going into the airport to leave Turkey
