Any chance of stripping this or is it just a bundle?

I'm interested in the EF 50mm lens - how much would you want for that?

ouch! can get a brand new one for £239.99... http://www.procamerashop.co.uk/canon-ef-50mm-f-1-4-usm.html?gclid=COXnzd2Fi7UCFU3HtAodmhIABw

was hoping for more like £150 ish...

Just out of curiosity, why are you selling it all?

[edit] actually using the direct bank transfer and thus 3% off, it comes to £232.79.

I have a very good "idiot" camera which I can turn manual and will fit in a large pocket

I cannot get onto a plane anymore since 9/11 with a laptop bag (goes everywhere with me) and also my camera bag without hassle and I don't want to go for a flight one day and have to leave a bag

£200 is a good price for this lens

There is no wear and tear on lenses hence the reason they keep their prices

Bodies come and go and drop in price but lenses stay the same and when you want to get shut you sell for what you bought used

OK, no probs,

I realise lenses hold their value (looking on ebay £180-£200 seems to be the second hand price) but £200 is a bit out of my budget at the moment.

Will probably leave it for now and go for the 1.8 for around £70-£80.

I was hoping to bring my 600D on holiday - is this really a problem nowadays? It's a fairly small camera bag (backpack design) as I only tend to take the body, 2 lenses, 430 flash gun and a few filters - the tripod can go in my luggage.

The problem with me is I use all the lenses everywhere I go, its ok when I am in Turkey and can nip back and forth to the house on a scooter to change a lens but if I am in another country which I am quite a bit and using different airlines then each one has its own rules

Turkish airlines are great and you can carry tons of stuff but its the ones in between

I've decided now not to list on ebay as I wont pay the fees and can't be bothered with it all

If it goes it goes and if not it will be used in the UK or sit in the back of a cupboard

Michelle I will not be splitting the bag as the whole kit fits into it

As for the monopod it would not be worth selling alone as by the time the shipping went onto it then it would not be worth buying

Thanks for the interest but I think the main kit should go to a new person but lenses could be split

Sunseeker, I bring my DSLR Camera, 2 lenses, about 10 filters, flash gun, chargers, spare battery, portable hard drive etc all in a lowenpro bag, and have never had a problem bringing it to Turkey.
I even put the monopod through the monopod lugs on the front, and carry it on as my hand luggage.
It goes through the airport security scanner fine and I've never been asked to open it.
Hope that alleviates your worries.

Hi JT,
Much as I would like to relieve you of at least one lens or the Flash, Unfortunately its a little too soon after Christmas and a Birthday....... wish you luck on your sale, but like you say, the equipment always comes in handy. I still have a 350D body, that my sons can borrow, with a couple of lens.

Sunseeker,
Last year I was lucky enough to travel Easy Jet, there is NO WEIGHT restriction on hand luggage, if it will fit in the "case measure" and you can lift it 'easily' you can take it on board, all my camera kit (body inc lens, plus two lens and Flash in bag) took up half of the hand luggage case.

As there's talk of flying with camera gear I feel I'm obliged to refer to the "starter pistol trick", just in case people haven't come across it: http://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2 ... camer.html

I've not tried it myself, and I'm not sure travelling to Turkey with one would be quite as easy as the US, but it does demonstrate the lengths that people will go to in order to get around airline rules.

I don't think I'll be using that tactic, imagine the hassle you'd get if you went to the official and said "I have a weapon to declare"... Especially in Dalaman (a military airport lol)
