Please can anyone let me know what the current £ to Lira exchange rate is in
Icmeler at the moment? Rate is falling in the UK seems to be around 2.6TL to the £.
Wondering if best to change small amount in the UK and the rest in Icmeler. Thinking about changing £900 when arriving in Icmeler. No commission at most exchange places in the UK.

The exchange rate will be better in
Icmeler than here, the last I heard it was around 2.76 out there.
I usually get some Lira from M&S before I go. It's better to get a small amount here and change the rest out there, I wouldn't cash it all up at once though as the rate does fluctuate. The supermarket next to the Tandori Sizzler/ICR office is the best place to change and they always give a good rate.
Make sure you hire a safe wherever you're staying!

We only take enough for the first Efes on the
transfer comfort break from the airport, usually we've got enough saved from our previous visit, but if not then Sainsburys often do one of the best rates with a nectar card - if you haven't got one, just pick one up in store before you go to the change bit and hand it over. I never use it for anything else! Many many places to change in resort, shops, bars, restaurants

I wanted to get £25 worth of Lira yesterday and was quoted 2.57, where as 3 days ago it was 2.69
Don't know where to wait now till resort or get some

Pinna, you will definitely get a better rate in resort. If you only want to get a small amount like £25 you will not really notice the difference if you get 2.57 or 2.75 to the £ obviously if you're changing larger amounts you should try to get the best rate you can.

Probably the wrong thing to say but we've never bothered with a safe (apart from one year in Crete where it was free). Passports and cash go in one suitcase, then lock it and put keys in another suitcase or well hidden somewhere in room.
Never had anything going missing but maybe we've just been lucky...

We have just back and at 2 pound a day for a safe it didnt break the bank and wasnt worth the risk as had mobile phone taken in malta by a maid and nothing was done.

Exchange rate was 2.84 last week in the Wembley bar and 2.81 in the Robin Hood bar and dropped to 2.78 last friday. Do try some of the bars up the hill, they are giving much better exchange rates, and dont give all your money to greedy travel op's, airport exchanges and exchange booths/officess in Icmeler.

Coming out for the first time in Turkey.. Where are the places to exchange best?

I've done that before, but a couple of years ago I heard of someone who had a fair bit of cash and some jewelry taken from their room (Icmeler) so decided it was worth the small charge to hire a safe and not worry. It would seriously interfere with my holiday if someone nicked my spends... though I wouldn't mind at all if someone wanted to half-inch my return air ticket!

If you are staying in the Old Village the Wembley Bar gives a good rate of exchange as does Jimmy Asda.

What are the best notes to take for exchanging?
Do they like to just change certain notes.. At the moment i have some £5, £10 and £20
Also how crisp are the £10 notes needed to be for the visa?
Thank you

Wouldn't take £5. Not sure where you stay but make sure you take English notes. Scottish notes will be exchanged but English are preferred. As long as £10 isn't defaced in any way age doesn't matter. Have a good holiday.

Pinna, look at this map for some help as to where places are.
The map is North to South and, looking at the map of
Icmeler itself, the "old" town is on the left hand side/West of Icmeler. Basically, anywhere left of the main road that bisects Icmeler from North to South (Kayabal Cd) is old town or heading towards it. Closer to the beach, to the right of Kayabal Cd on the map, is the "new" town.
