wayside letdown this year

Postby chrislee » 23 Jul 2012 21:27

my wife and i and another couple went to the wayside 3 weeks ago, only one of us had a starter
not knowing that it took half an hour for that to arrive,we then had to wait another three quarters of an hour for the mains meals to come, and to top it all not everyone was happy with the meal.....lesson to be learnt, if one of you is having a starter be prepared to wait a long time for yours, suppose its o.k. if your having a starter also.
.My meal was alright good job I was starving when it arrived

Would that not be the same in the uk?
The one thing I learnt when going to Greece year after year, was that it's a different way of life, and your food is cooked fresh, and takes that bit longer, and was the same last year when in Icmeler.
Not having a go, I just don't see the problem personally.
If I wanted fast food, I'd go to McDonald's! If I want freshly cooked food, I'm more than happy to wait for it!

Not talking specifically about the wayside as it would have been one of my favourites but i think a lot of them do this to get you to buy more drinks

This year we have been back several times and all times we had really good food!

It's no drive in. It is a nice restaurant where you can enjoy your meal and you do not get everything within an hour so they will once again be able to fill your table with new guests.

It is of course personal, but we love Wayside restaurant!

I have no issue whatsoever with food being cooked when ordered. However, I do think the waiter should warn you and give an e.t.a so that you could change your order to something cooked more quickly if you didn't want to wait.

I have been caught out a couple of times so that when the food arrived I was past eating and left most of it.

Had I known the length of the wait I would have changed to a steak and pre-ordered the 'fancy' dish for another night.

We have experienced in restaurants, not the Wayside,on a couple of occasions the opposite to this of your main course arriving at the table while you are less than halfway into your starters . We have also had the main meals come in advance of the starters.

Personally, I'd rather wait for a really good, freshly-cooked meal than have something which has been prepared in advance and just reheated. If you're on holiday, what's the rush anyway - relax and enjoy the Icmeler atmosphere! The Wayside is one of our favourite restaurants in Icmeler and the food has never been anything other than excellent. The service has always been great too - maybe not the quickest, but certainly among the friendliest and best in the resort.

Agree with blondie, whats the rush. Remember we are in ish time in icmeler. I suppose when ordering you could ask how long will the meal be so as to give you some idea of timings. One of the reasons when we go out for meals in Icmeler, is never to organise a time to be anywhere else, just incase there may be a delay, :( , more EFES though
