Holiday check lists

Postby sunseeker2011 » 03 Jul 2012 11:36

Hi,

Does anyone make a check list before packing your suitcases?

I tend not to but this year as I'm taking my 15 year old daughter (who doesn't live with me) I thought it might be a good idea to write out a check list for her.

Would be interested to see other peoples check lists, all I can think of is:
Passports (obviously lol)
Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo & conditioner, 'lady' things etc)
Sun Tan lotion & Aftersun
Towels
Clothes
Shoes / Sandals / Flip Flops
Money
Holiday Itinery (i.e. tickets, transfer details, airport parking, insurance details etc) I usually have these in a brown envelope in wife's handbag
Travel Power Adaptor + four-way extension gang
Phone Chargers & Phones
Swimwear
Hats
Sunglasses
Translation Dictionary

Have I missed anything important out? What list do you use?

Cheers

Justin

yep, good idea - we bought these last year, didn't really need them though but worth having I guess.

Do those wrist bands work that you can buy on the plane? I saw them last year but didn't want to waste money if they don't work.

P.S. Surely after 150+ posts you must have seen the 'EDIT' button lol

Hi sunseeker, I have also done my check list last night. Travelling on the 27th July.

Remember to make sure you have your £10 ready for entry into the country.

Happy holiday.

Yep, I know about this one, was mainly thinking of stuff to put in suitcase rather than hand luggage but all suggestions welcome.

Sunseeker, what about your first aid kit (just in case of emergencies)

Hmm, never even crossed my mind, I don't actually have a first aid kit but may put a few things together and take that. Good idea by the way :)

I usually make a check list by starting at the top of my head and working down, i.e. shampoo, conditioner, hairwax or styling product of some kind, comb or brush, make up, jewellery, face moisturiser, perfume, deodrant, sun lotions & oil and so on. I then go with the accessories and tickets, passports and the like. Sunglasses, phone charger, ipod, speakers, ipod charger, kindle or book. Then I do the clothes so that I can match 2 tops to each bottoms and then dresses. Sandals and shoes plus numerous flip flops and enough bikini's to last me a fortnight :D

I ALWAYS do a check list,I start it a couple of months before I go, then as I think of something I add it on the list (it does tend to increase year by year, Kindle, Nintendo DS etc!) but many things such as travel plugs, toileteries bag, travel washing line with pegs etc are already in my case from the previous holday. I do an evening of trying on my clothes to see which I like best for the holiday as well and try to dwindle down what I like to what I really really like lol, then I hang them at one side of the wardrobe ready to pack. It really is a hard decision for us ladies to choose what clothes to take as weight is limited, blokes I think do not have this problem!
