Hubby and I stayed in Alanya last September and we really liked it (although it wasn't a patch on Icmeler, obviously :D )
There are lovely beaches and loads of great places to eat out, and the castle is definitely worth a visit for the spectacular views alone. It is very popular with German and Russian tourists though, and a lot of the goods are priced in Euros because of that.

W e went for two weeks a couple of years ago and had a good time, although we went in February, found it slanted towards the Germans and Russians but still found some nice places to eat Turkish in the back streets. Found it more expensive than Icmeler and not quite so friendly but a holiday is what you make it. Enjoy.
