You can get Travelers cheques from Banks, Travel Agents, M & S, Post Office or any where that sells Travel Money. They can be purchased in any currency, There may be NO charge for Lira Cheques or 1% charge for Sterling....Check each supplier. My own bank, because of my type of account, they do not charge me any commission for Sterling Cheques. so no added expense.....

you'll find you'll get a far better rate in the resort. We allways take GBP with us and only 100TL in notes. At the current average rate over here you'll get 2800 to 1000 gbp but 2840 at todays rate in the resort which is a good meal or night out,etc.
best rate ive found today in exchange is 2.82 from I.C.E online. Used before but if it goes missing they dont refund for 10 days and we fly out on Monday.

i think the lira has bottomed out now and may not get any better, so I'm very tempted to get 500 quids worth now just incase.

We have been to icmeler 9 times,but have not been for the last 6 years.
We always took a budget of 2100gbp for 3 of us this was plenty.
We do the normal trips and have treats and the like,
What i want to know is will 2100gbp this year give us the same spending freedom as in the last 9 times we have been .

How many days do you go for, if it 14 then thats £150 a day, last year we spend about £130 a day for the four of us, including trips, the exchange rate is a lot better at the moment than 6 years ago.

Quite a slump in the exchange rate recently, is this the start of a downward trend?

2.75 on travelfx. It was around 2.84 just 3 weeks ago...

Just got back last night on wed we got 2.84, thurs 2.82, fri 2.80 and on sun itwas down to 2.76 this was at super market next to tandoori sizzler

Just had another fab, but to short holiday in Icmeller. Returned home Sat 16th June.
All week we were getting 2.80 / 2.81 lira to the £.
In Marmaris it was 2.72 on the day we visited. So change your money in Icmeller.

I going in 17 days and was wondering where is best to change my cash out there, do some places charge to change it etc. Also what is the rate out there atm. Lastly with all the possible charges is it still best to change it out there. p.s how much are drinks out there roughly atm

Dont get your money changed in the centre of Icmeler......
Go towards the old town area and ask in one of the small supermarkets.

We got 2.88 June 17th and in the centre we were only offered 2.73

This is very odd because the rate offered by the central bank of turkey for that date was 2.82 http://www.tcmb.gov.tr/ markets towards the village must have a lot of money.
