Healthcare/Hospitals Icmeler/Marmaris

Postby Tiberius » 12 Mar 2012 10:59

Hi Again Everybody,

Me and the other half will be visiting Icmeler again on the 11th May for a week. She will be just short of 28 weeks pregnant by the time we get there. I was just wondering what the healthcare/hospital care was like in the area?

I'm pretty sure it's great but was just a worry that was going through my head over the weekend should we have any complications at all...... Really should have asked this before I booked

Many Thanks,

John

The hospitals are fine, especially the one they usually use for insured tourists in Marmaris(can't remember the name of it) I have known a few people who have needed to be hospitalised and they were more than happy with the medical care and treatment. I have been to visit two or three times and they seemed to be much better taken care of than here, also private room with own bathroom/shower. Just make sure your partner is adequately insured and they know how far on in the pregnancy she will be, it's surprising how many are not actually insured as if you fail to disclose any medical problems etc then your insurance is void and won't cover anything. It may be a good idea for her to get a signed Doctors note to say she is fit for travel. Am sure everything will be fine and you will have a great holiday.

A girl we got chatting with in the hotel last July was pregnant and picked up a bit of a bug, she got taken to the private hospital in Marmaris and said the care was fantastic. She was relatively early on so had her first scan there and went back a couple more times for them to check everything was fine. Just check your insurance cover and perhaps it might be an idea to have a note from the midwife approving the trip just in case, and then go have a wonderful time :)

the small hospital/clinic in icmiler is very good, my wife has used it twice for an allergic reaction to the sun  both times the care & treatment were excellent Dr morat speaks very good English & is an absolute gent. I have used it once to have my ear syringed again excellent care & treatment, my friend rode his scooter to the hospital/ clinic & told the staff about my wife's problem & they came & picked us up in a hospital taxi thing then droped us back off, they also came for us for her repeat treatment & visit . so all in all IMO you don't have anything to worry about ,relax & enjoy
I have a photo of my wife while she was having this allergic reaction & her face ESP across her eyes & nose were really swollen (she looked a bit like a lion lady :) ) I won't post the pic , don't think she'd be too happy about it

I was unfortunate to have to spent 6 days in the private hospital in Marmaris a few years ago to the extend that I ended up in ICU for 2 of those. The care I got was excellent and by far better than anything I would have received back at home. The only complaint I had was that the food really was awful made our hospital food back home taste and look like at least 4 star. Never really bothered me as the apartments we were staying in, in Icmeler had a relative who owned a returant across the street from the hospital and every day he came over to see what I would like for my dinner and brought it over to me. It was a sight to behold seeing him coming into my room with my dinner wrapped up in tin foil,a very large pepper mill and bottles of ice cold water. He even organised transport for hubby back to Icmeler after visiting and transport for me back to our apartments when I got discharged.

Thanks for all the replies people and for putting our minds at ease. We were pretty sure everything would be fine and the healthcare would be more than adequate but just wanted to be certain ;)

Thanks again :D
