Nice post Peevo but dont forget that this is a moderated site therefore we will not be allowing anyone to get free stars by simply posting smilies.

The reason why we started this star ranking is, we want to offer active ICR forum members discounted products in resort at various places. We are in the middle of negotiating with few establishments to see what we can get for you. We are not after any comission or any sort of discount for our selves when doing this. We are after the best of the best deal we can get for you.
I personally came up with the idea for the sake of growing our community's popularity by giving back to the members who make up that community.

We had tested the promotional scheme of things in 2011 season using a single venue (Sizzler) and issued simple cards, our new goal is to expand the amount of offers and places and issue proper membership cards that get you deals right left and centre, from jewellery to clothing to rent a car to drinks and meals in Icmeler.

If we had announced this in the start of the summer, then everyone was to become new members for the sake of taking advantage of these new cards so we started using the star ranking now to eliminate such rush when the real deal is announced because new members or in other words those members with little input will not be entitled to these cards for free.

There maybe some distinguished offers for those with great input to honour them however the idea is not to make one feel smaller than the other but to encourage all our existing members to be actively involved in the community.

If majority of the members feel that this is wrong and are unhappy with the above ideas or the starring, then we can always use the vote option to keep it or get rid of it. Otherwise, be so kind to let us know the places you like to eat and shop from so we can target those places to join the program.

As for what David says, I think he has a good point, if people see this as devisive which was never our intention then we will figure out a new way or cancel this program all together. This community and the forum is already the best point for gathering information on Icmeler and is already famous and popular so we could as well just leave it as it is but we constantly tend to look for ways for improvement..(when we get free time from dealing with the anti-icr bunch on trip advisor forum .... those with serious objections, please feel free to let us know so to find the mid way if we can.

I think it's a good idea. You probably will get a few who'll post just to increase their star status but I think that the moderators will easily pick out the people that do this, due to the content of their postings. With the idea for the star status there seems to be more advantages than disadvantages and if it doesn't work well, then it can end.

just logged on and read all this about stars etc. i dont no so mutch about getting stars a lot of the posts i have read want to get a life dont bother with stars.

i go on the forum most days just to see whats going on in our favourite resort ,dont always have anything to comment on so i wont have may posts or stars, and i expect many other forum members will be the same so i cant see the object ,apart from some members trying to get more stars than others.

Wow I have 5 stars although its taken 7 Years. I think any discount scheme is excellent, especially enjoyed the cheap drinks at the Tandori this year so any other offers arranged by iCR will be gratefully accepted.
