Just looked on Marmaris tv. It was a 3 story building which seemed to be sitting on its own.Shop below it burnt out but the residents are seen removing their posessions from the house upstairs. Cant place the building.

Sounds to me that people are just showing their concern and interested to know where the fire is.

I will pass on everyones best wishes to the family who have lost everything.

The man was burned on his hands in the fire trying to control it.

The water wagon that goes around Icmeler watering the grass was the first to turn up to the fire but the man driving didn't know how to open the valve to get the water out, Mehmet Can from Majestic ran to the vehicle and did it himself but it ran out of water so was no use.

By the time the fire engine turned up the fire was well out of control so its all gone

Sounds as if it could have been a lot worse - thoughts go out to those involved though.

If you walk behind Alins restaurant and keep going till you get to the greengrocers, it was the upholsterey place facing it.

Mehmet Can also burned his hands helping out

Sorry if I upset anyone by showing my concern, but it was a friend in Icmeler that posted the video on his facebook. All I asked was where it was and that if anyone had been hurt. I , as many others, have a lot of friends in Icmeler and we see it as our second home. If I had known this was going to cause upset then I wouldnt have asked. :?

Hi fifegirl,
I don't think you did anything wrong at all. I too was concerned when I heard the news and wanted more information as like you we have many friends in paradise. I can however understand that John's position is a difficult one. He has to try and balance the feelings of those involved by this tragedy, those of us who are genuinely concerned, and the ghouls who feed on other peoples misery. So don't beat yourself up and thank's for the original heads up.

Had a bit of a panic attack when I read this. I looked at marmaris tv and translated the article about the fire. It said it was in Gazi Ekrem Caddesi which is the road our apartment is in. Thanks to JT for pin-pointing the specific location. As it happens the upholsterer shop as quite a distance from our place. Panic over !!!! Thanks again.

Thanks for that David but I really thought that was directed at me. I would never had known about it if a friend in Icmeler hadnt put it on his facebook page. In future I will keep my thoughts and comments to myself. Take care
