Car Hire

Postby BelliniLea » 06 Oct 2011 20:29

Hi everyone,

I'm just looking for a wee bit of advice regarding car hire, if anyone has any experience of this. I'm coming over to Icmeler next week, but looking to go to Kusadasi for a few days. I'm planning to hire a car and was just wondering if anyone knew of where I could do this in Icmeler (or i'm happy to get it from Marmaris if that's better) and an idea of how much it would cost for 5 days. Appreciate any advice
Thanks

You can certainly hire a car in Icmeler no problem - there is a place next to the ICR office which friends of ours have used and been very happy with. No idea about prices though, sorry - perhaps someone else will be able to give you some idea of cost.

Thanks for all your replies, which are very useful. Yeah, i'm not really looking to the distance of the drive having never driven abroad before, but guess I have to start sometime and drivers in Turkey seem relatively safe in comparrison to other places - but I could be changing my mind about that very soon!!! There's only one problem though - I don't actually know where the ICR office is......!
Thanks again for replying to my post - appreciate it!

The ICR office is easy to find - if you know the square where the Bonjour, ATM machines etc are - looking towards the beach, you will see the Tandoori Sizzler on the right hand side, and the ICR office is just next door to that.

I drive a lot abroard and the Turkish drivers are some of the worse I have seen, for a first drive abroard I wish you luck.

Turkey has a zero alchol policy if carrying passengers so don,t even drink the night before, make sure you carry your passport in case you are pulled over.

Hi,
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the advice. I have now been, hired my car and made it back in one piece! Actually found it slightly easier to get used to than I thought I would, but it is nice to be driving on the correct side of the car on the correct side of the road again. Unfortunately, didn't go to Dacta (i don't think I did anyway, I actually don't really know what way I went) but I must say, driving back down into Marmaris was breathtaking - it's just a pity I was concentrating on my driving too much to fully appreciate it, but didn't want to crash after making it safely all that way!! The roads we took were all pretty new, so relatively straight forward. Glad I got the tip about the roundabouts before I went though - very strange to get used to and wouldn't have know about that, so thanks!!
