Thanks Ayse

Straight on phone to Virgin to get refund on flights.
Mentioned section 75 and they are sending form out to claim.
They will be in touch within 5 days.
Having lost out last year twice I've been bitten again.
Got money back last year within 5 months, which wasn't bad.
Hopefully quicker this time.

Thanks again

Carol

P.s Still got this year to look forward to. 21st August with T..... C...
Sorry to all who have lost out. I know how you feel x

Hi
You're very welcome and I hope you get your refunds quickly. My parents were initially fobbed off by M & S credit card until they quoted Section 75 and they soon changed their tune. As you will see on the CAA form they always advise to claim from credit card first otherwise you could be waiting forever for a refund from the actual Company.

Hope everything works out for those who have lost out and you get your holidays sorted. x

Just filled in my claim form as I thought I'd wait until the rush was over. I have 3 sets of flights to claim for but unfortunately I paid by Debit Card. Pity we couldn't claim for consequential loss as I've had to pay nearly £900 extra for our flights for next year!

Pastie

I think the credit card company may be trying to fob you off. Under section 75 of the consumer credit act you should be able to make a claim if the supplier( holidays 4U) goes into administartion. As a rule credit card companies tend to pay out much quicker thatn ABTA, ATOL CAA. I would get back on to them and ask for a claim form.

I did this with my credit card company and was refunded within 3 weeks. Numerous others seem to have also been refunded by their credit card companies

Pastie booked through a travel agent and I take it that the agent she booked with has not gone bust so the credit card people are correct.

You have to claim from Atol as the agency still in operation collected that money and that has to be paid to Atol by them if they haven't already and then Atol will pay pastie.

You claim from your credit card if you booked direct with the collapsed company as they cannot pay you back as they are gone

Pastie if you booked with a travel agent most will book alternative flights for you, with you only having to pay the difference in cost, the agent then claims flight cost back on your behalf. Suggest you speak with travel agent concerned.

A BIG Thank You to Sue and all you other lovely people, for the advice on cc refunds and consequential losses, my refund for 2 sets of flights have now been refunded, and today spoke with M&S lady regarding the c-losses, they have agreed to pay 75% of the price difference, for the new flights (because, i could not prove that i had booked the cheapest flights, meaning did i print off the internet price quotes, back on Aug 4th, when i booked the new flights for this Sept) But hey, i have accepted, dont need anymore stress, and 75% back is better than a kick in the teeth, so roll on Sept 19, and i shall be winging my way back to paradise............

So to everyone else still waiting, Good Luck, i hope you all hear soon.
