Last day drinking then picking you're car up at the airport!

Postby Chris221273 » 22 Aug 2011 17:58

I was listening to a couple at gatwick airport talking about picking their car up from the airport parking.
The conversation was...."Are you sure your ok to drive"? "Of course I am I had my last drink 7 hours ago for gods sake"!!!
"Oh ok then, it's just you'd had quite a few"!
"Yes, but seven hours ago for gods sake!"

When in reality it was only 5 hours ago with the time difference!!!
Sod his luck, but I guess a good thing to remember, as it's too easy to have day or evening drinking, then get back to the uk and put your clock to uk time and think oh that was ages ago!!!

Very good point Chris. We always get a lift or taxi transfer for that reason - and don't fancy driving after travelling anyway

You have made a really good point. I decided this year to park at Gatwick and have the return meet and greet service so that I could drive home. It worked out cheaper than a taxi from Walton, Surrey to Gatwick airport return. On our last evening, we went for dinner as usual if slightly earlier so as to get back in time to get our transfer.

I was gaggin' for a cold beer as the night was very humid and dressed for the airport, I could have done with one or two but no, I was very good and had water or pepsi. Dad was good too and joined me in the not drinking so I didn't feel so bad. It was a good idea as when I arrived at Gatwick at 04.10 the following morning, I felt quite fresh and ready for the drive home.

Easy to forget though whilst your still in holiday mode!!!
