Beach in the afternoons

Postby Lisalala » 17 Aug 2011 15:41

We normally spend our holidays around the pool but the last couple of years my son has ended up ill with an ear infection so we are determined to spend some time down the beach this year.
Our intention is to spend mornings round the pool and head down to the beach after lunch. My concern is we did that a couple of times last year and ended up with free beds which is excellent but we then seemed to pay an exorbitant price for refreshments.

So what I really would like to know is where is the best place to go on the beach if we are only going to be spending two to three hours in the afternoon there? I don't mind paying extra to what you'd usually pay for refreshments (thats to be expected if the beds are free) but don't want to feel like I'm being fleeced.

Thank you

We went to the beach on a couple of afternoons - Kontes beach end - paid 2.50 lr for a bed, shade and the guys were great as they kept pouring water on the sand so didnt burn feet when walking to sea if further back. They also arranged for the ringo's man to come along and give us a price so didnt even have to get up to do that. The price of the refresments was the same as buying in the bar so a large efes cost 5 lr. They said that all the beds along there are now all 2.5 with none free so that the beers etc were same price as if sitting in the cafe.
Dont normally go to the beach but really enjoyed it.
Not sure about the other end where the free beach is/was but sure someone can help there.

Hope you have a great hols 8)

We always go to Messi at coco beach but you may find it difficult to get a bed in the afternoon. .He doesnt charge for beds but expects you to buy a drink so whatever you pay for a drink you can knock off 2.50TL as thats the price you pay for beds on the beach.Same charge from him as from coco beach and some amazing coctails!

We always go in front of Kontes beach on the beds with the thick green mattresses.
The lads are great and dont pester you to purchase drinks etc.
I dint think the Erdem had beds and that section of the beach belonged to the Aqua?
Wouldnt mind trying this section of beach as we always have lunch here.

We always go in front of the Erdem, the beds belong to L'etoile. The price was 3 lira this May. This is for the mattress, if you stay at the hotel and don't want a mattress the beds are free.

beach at Harmony Bar usually have a few free beds in the afternoon - they are free and they expect you to buy drinks from them, but don't hassle you. Snacks are good and reasonably priced. Large Efes on beach there is 5TL
The mattresses and parasols are fantastic - deep comfy mattresses and huge collapsible parasols
Great bunch of lads too, Robby who used to be at Denis Kapizi is at Harmony this year

Lisalala by reading your previous posts i think i was speaking to your husband on bullsh**s boat trip a few weeks ago.We were the family from Eastleigh.Any way lucky you going again.
My son used to get ear infections so we used to go to the doctors in England before we went on hols and he would prescribe us with what we needed. Then you could either put small drops in each day to prevent it from happening or wait to see if they get infected and if they do you have the drops ready to use.
Have a great time.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

And yeah South Coast Hero my hubby Anthony remembers chatting to you on the boat trip. I tried the doctor this week but he wasn't having any of it.... :(
However I've had to take my son for emergency dentist appointment today and he's been given anti biotics for a tooth infection so to be honest its worked out quite well....(not that I wanted my son to have a sore mouth I hasten to add) :)
