It's worth bearing in mind that if you book flight & accomodation separately, you are dealing with two suppliers (airline & hotel). I suspect that if the airline fails you will only get a refund of the flight, not the hotel, although you may not be in a position to use the hotel. Perhaps someone could put me right on this?

cost £5 per head and covers flight

These would include:
•Scheduled airlines
•Hotels
•Youth Hostels
•Car ferries
•Villas abroad & cottages in the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and the Republic of Ireland
•Railway journeys (including the Eurostar)
•Coach journeys
•Car hire
•Caravan sites / campsites / mobile homes
•Camper rental
•Euro tunnel
•Theme parks such as Disneyland Paris.
You are not covered for the following:
The insolvency of the Travel Agent, Tour Operator, the booking agent (unless listed) or consolidator. It is therefore your commercial decision to book with them and thus your responsibility

Only Mentions mention scheduled flights and also not covered by insolvency of Travel Agent

Your flight would be covered if you booked direct with the airline and then the airline went into liquidation

A good example is Freedom Direct going into liquidation a couple of years ago, had you booked your hotel and flight through them then this policy wouldn't cover it as it was the agent that went bust and not the airline or hotel.

Hope this makes sense

I think you will find that if you book any flight on it's own with out it being a package holiday that they are not ATOL protected, this is not just true for JET2, but for alot of airline companies. For anybody booking flights or purchasing anything these days then it is always advisable to use a credit card as you are immediately covered. Lots of people have travelled with JET2 out to Turkey this year and have been very pleased with the service they have received.

Hi Laney
Glad to hear your positive comments about Jet2 as I have booked them through a travel agent and was not sure about them as I have never used them before. I used credit card to provide some additional protection and hope it all works out.

We flew from Glasgow with Jet2 in june. We booked through a travel agent as we were atol protected booking that way rather than booking direct with jet2. It cost slightly more but it was worth it as it gave us peace of mind if anything had happened. We also paid by credit card. Flight was good and on time both ways.Cabin crew were nice.We would definitely fly with them again.
