Onur airline has gone into administration, they no longer operate. They have gone the way of many, I think the first Freddie Laker and the last I believe was XL or Kiss. Kaput! Gone! :(
When this happens it is not only the passengers who are affected but also the people employed by the airline and if they specialise in certain Countries like Onur did for Turkey it will also be the resorts that suffer.

Hi chocaholic, I thought it was just holidays4u and Agean flights that had gone into administration as I read somewhere that Onur Air would be helping to repatreate people, perhaps I have got it wrong

Onurair have not gone into administration, they are a Turkish airline and will still be operating flights in and out of Turkey from other countries as they always have, aegeanflights were just agents for their flights operating from the UK.

I am one of those who were booked onto an Onur air flight for September and booked it through Holidays4u. I am totally devastated by it all to be honest i am a single mum already struggling to save for this holiday and i now have to pay for new flights with money i do not have. I cant even get a flight from my local airport and have got to go further afield. What was starting as excitement to our holiday count down is now filled with stress and disappointment :(

Thanks Sue i know i've been able to re-book a new flight and there's plenty out there who have had to cancel whole holiday but i only had £1000 saved up for spending money and just paid out £581 for new flights. Where i'm going to find spending money now is beyond me. My thoughts are with all of you who have lost out too xxx

I'm in exactly same position as you BillyJo, just had to pay £500 for new flights....makes you sick that they get away with this. Also the 'big boys' should be ashamed of themselves for putting up the flight prices at this time. We had to add 3 nights onto our holiday, last night the price was an extra £86 today its £128. They're determined to get us one way or another, its like being held to ransom

Chocoholic, Onur air haven't went bust, they are the airline - Aegean Flights/Holdays 4u have went bust, they are the travel/booking agents - completely separate companies.

OK, Thanks for that. What I dont understand is if Onur air have not gone bust why dont they honour our bookings or even give us a chance to go on our original flight? If I paid again what I had paid to book it would still be cheaper than if I got another airline. Plus we get a refund anyway so why cant we still go on this airline and pay again? So have Onur cancelled all the flights that Aegean and Holidays 4 u had used or are they still flying the ones that we had originally booked?
If Onur air are not out of business then surely they are still flying from the airports that we originally booked from, so why have we not been offered the same seats even if we have to pay again as we get refund from Credit card company or CAA? If they are not flying the flights that we had all originally booked with then why not? If this is the case then surely THEY will go bust now if all the flights that Aegean and Holidays 4 u are no longer then that is a whole lot of their flights gone.

I do realise that but does that mean the flights are cancelled? Why not still fly with ones we had booked with and give us an option to pay again as we will get a refund from the ones we booked with Aegean or Holidays 4 u, If this is the case as I said in my previous post they could be the next to go under.

Aegean charted Onur Air to do the flights.
Aegean have your money not Onur Air.
Think of it this way a group of people want to go to blackpool,
One of you charters a coach collects the money of you then absconds with the money,
You would not expect the coach company to take you for free.

i agree chocoholic
Onur should ask the people to pay the same price again so they get the money and still fly the planes as orginally planned as they are going to lose out and the planes will be sitting doing nothing as they had planned to go
Onur should try and make the best out the bad situation as im sure they have lost a lot of money from this
hope something happens and it can be sorted a bit :(

I think Keith is right, they haven't been paid so have cancelled all flights. What I don't understand is why can't we book direct with Onur Air as it would take all this risk out of the equation and be a hell of a lot cheaper.

The trouble over the years has been down to travel/booking agents going bust such as Scott travel, XL, Goldtrail - all agents, not the actual airlines involved.

yeah John your right
Onur should take over the bookings direct so it reduces the risk
i guess we will just have to wait and see what happens

XL was a charter airline
Aegean went bust due to down turn in passenger numbers
half empty planes etc don't think Onur Air would want to follow.

I do understand that and what I am saying is- as we get a refund anyway I and many others will be willing to pay Onur air again, at least we will all still get our holidays at the dates we wanted (work commitments/school holidays etc) and they will not have many planes redundant and not flying. I do not expect them to take me for free.

Sorry Lostsoul, your right, I was getting mixed up with XL Leisure group - XL had quite a few companies under its huge umbrella.

But Aegean were the agents for Onur so if what you are saying is true and there is a reduction in passenger numbers then Onur will go bust???????? There will still be half empty planes if they are still operating. Aegean/Holidays 4 u going bust will not fill the remaing planes that ARE flying.
