Just in case you are re booking flights after Holidays4u went in to administration.
If you book a flight only, with Jet2 it is NOT ATOL protected so pay by credit card just in case.
Jet2 holidays are ATOL protected if you are booking a holiday package.

Abit of a misleading Title lostsoul, enough people on here are upset, worrying and have every right to be without putting something like that, which if anyone on here is flying with Jet2 is going to get the wrong impression and they are going to start worrying as well. please don't scaremonger put a Title that says just what you mean!!!!!

Changed title from Warning Jet2 to Jet2 just for you Teeeny2222.
It is important if you book a flight with jet2 it is not ATOL protected,
no refund or flight home if already on holiday, so at least pay by credit card.
you never know which companies are safe. At least Jet2 owns their plane and do not lease them
so or more safer than others I think.
have suffered many times from the first with intasun the last being XL.so no what people are going through.

Thanks lostsoul no need to give people something to worry about when they hopefully dont need to.

Thank you lost soul for this information. I have been considering booking a flight with Jet2 and had not realised flights are not covered by ATOL. In the current climate I think we all need to be sure we are protected as far as possible.

This is not exactly true, if you book your flight only direct with Jet2 then you are not covered by ATOL but booking through a travel company then you are fully covered.

I think this is a bit unfair- lostsoul is only giving advice which is very relevent as everyone will be wanting to book with another company/airline. You do have the option to click off the thread. I think tempers are a bit heated today but please do not pick on members who are trying to help. Thankyou for the info lostsoul, I appreciate you taking the time and trouble to warn fellow members. BTW- it was a warning so what is the fuss about?

Chocoholic all information is very gratefully received but there are better ways of putting it across!! just thought that people already had enough worries without a title looking like some other company was going bust!!

They might not be, but take a look at reports of which companies looked after their customers the best during the volcanic ash chaos - you'll find jet2 up there at the top. Their customer service is second to none, they are a brilliant company and not about to go down the pan at all. I've experienced many budget airlines, and believe me, jet2 are much better than any of the others.
Also if you are looking to rebook - try doing it through sunshine.co.uk - they give free supplier failure cover with all their holidays.
I hope everyone manages to get sorted out x

noodles1609 I am not saying Jet2 are likely to go into administration, far from it see post 3.
but no company is safe these days, it was only weeks ago on this site people were saying that Aegean were safe.
It’s better to be safe than sorry and try to cover yourself if the worst should happen,
Most credit card companies pay out far quicker than insurance or the CAA.
Insurance is good if you are stranded but most still expect you to get home yourself and then claim back the cost so you need funds to do this.
This post was meant as helpful information only as on the Jet2 flights site it is very hard to find out that flights are not ATOl protected, yet on the jet2 holidays site ATOL and ABTA or shown, so if you were taken to the holidays tab by google then clicked on the flights tab you might have assumed flights were ATOL protected.
If you pay on jet2 by PayPal you will have a very hard job with the credit card companies if the worst happened and jet2 failed as you have paid PayPal and not Jet2 with your credit card.
If the Banks can fail anyone can!

just checking flight prices online Jet2 Manchester 8th august 2 weeks.......£800 each, its obviously boiling down to supply and demand no one is cheap they are all coming up round about the same price
04 Aug 2011 09:42
jnesbitt I do not know when you fly , but after XL went bust all the companies inflated the existing flights till they all were all more or else sold, then added new flights cheaper and often with better timings, its a gamble though.

ok im looking to get end supplier failure, can you just buy this alone then get travel insurance nearer time

i have lost my flights for next May booked with Aegean, they had only cost £288 for 2 from Glasgow plus a £4 credit card fee.
Went onto JET2 last night and virtually the same flight cost me £510 for us both. JET 2 surcharges are ridiculous however, £18 credit card fee £18 booking fee plus an online check in, or an airport check plus around £90 for luggage
Checked Thomas Cook website for a package price and to be fair the price was not that bad
best thing shop around for the best deals
My heart goes out to all those who have not yet been on holiday and are due to go shortly. The last thing you need is more stress
