Hi all
Agreed this is terrible news and my parents have also just booked flights for 2012. My advice to them and to anyone who booked via credit card is contact your credit card immediately and claim via Section 75, please don't be fobbed off with the card company telling you to claim from the travel company. Your c/c co is jointly and severally liable under section 75 to reimburse you, then they pursue the travel company for their share.
Hopefully for those people that have booked in the last week the c/c company will not hve even pid H4U/Aegean and you will not have paid the credit card. Place a dispute on this immediately!!!
Section 75
There are many circumstances where you may be entitled to a refund. Here are a few typical examples:
•The goods you buy turn out to be faulty or damaged.
•The supplier you buy the item from goes bust and your order never arrives.
•The quality of the item is unsatisfactory.
In all these cases - and many others - you'll have the right to redress under Section 75. You may also be able to claim for any further financial loss suffered as a result of the problems you have experienced with your purchase. So for example, if you booked a new, more expensive flight to get you home because the original airline you booked with went bust, you could claim the full cost of the more expensive flight. Best of all, there's no upper limit on the amount of damages you could claim.
How come you can make a claim through your credit card? Under Section 75, the supplier of your goods and your credit card issuer share liability jointly and severally. So you can pursue either or both parties. Neither claim carries more weight than the other, so it's a good idea to pursue your credit card company first if the supplier has gone out of business. It may also be better to claim against the card issuer for overseas transactions.[/
Apologies for the length of this but hope it helps. Good luck x

Great advice from ayse.
Phoned barclays back and quoted section 75 to them...... a form is on its way to me and both my payments with h4u and ageanflights are suspended.

I am sorry for everyone who has booked with them

So sorry for everyone affected, it happened to us a couple of years ago when XL went overnight as we where travelling.
Anger, frustration, not being able to do find any real information to achieve anything constructive, plus many more emotions.
Just checked my operators website and flight costs increased from about £650 last week to Almost £1000 per couple
Hope you all get your holidays and money back quickly
Pete.

Our flights with Onur next Thursday 11th from Bournemouth cancelled. Managed to book with Thomson from the same airport on the Monday 15th but at more than double the cost than Aegean.

Lets just hope we get our money back now!

I can't see Onurair honouring any future flights that were booked through Aegean if they were owed money by them, they are not going to pull out of thier own pockets when they have still have airport duty, fuel, and staff to pay no way.

UK Bonded travel agents
If you have booked flights or holidays with Holidays4u or flights with Aegean
Via uk bonded travel agents you are only having to pay the difference in flights or new holiday.
You sign your claim to them and they then claim it back.
