Xmas in Icmeler

Postby Huyton Woolyback » 08 Oct 2006 13:27

I know this is probably an old chestnut.

Is it worth trying to book anything in Icmeler for Xmas week.

A change in my personal situation means that I want to get away at Xmas this year. I have visited Icmeler 3 times and love the place. Dont know what it would be like at Xmas tho. Is it closed completely.

How is the weather, is there anything to do.

Can you get there, is Dalaman open all year round now.

If someone could let me know I'd be most grateful.

I'd love to go for xmas...i know some bars are open all year ie the 3bells near tansas, they have a big christmas party on xmas day.Had the webcam on to me last year, sooo wanted to be there they had belly dancers and everything hehe!!
It may be like a ghost town as some have said...i dont know know,as i went in March this year there was about 8-9 bars open that i knew of.

But if you can get a flight out there...go for it!!!!

Hi Darren

I was in Marmaris and Icmeler for a week to celebrate New Year. I went over to stay with my then boyfriend who lives in Icmeler. As he shares a house with other family members we decided it would be nicer to stay in a hotel in Marmaris, but we went to Icmeler nearly every day to visit various people.

The dolmus runs regularly so no problem getting between the two resorts. But there is far more open and many more people around in Marmaris. Icmeler was like a ghost town (quite strange to see it like that), but for a couple of places open around the village.

Icmeler is my absolute favouite place and I usually go at least twice a year. I don't really like Marmaris in the summer months as it's so big and noisy - but Marmaris is winter is great, with quite a lot of bars, shops and restaruants open.

So in my opinion you would be better to stay in Marmaris and visit Icmeler - if I went in winter time again that's what I would do.

Dalman is open all year round now and there are some companies offering direct flights, though you'll probably have to travel from Gatwick or Manchester (I flew from Gatwick). Or you can fly to Istanbul and get an internal flight down to Dalaman.

The weather at New Year was kind of mild and wet, but boy when it rains it rains - the roads in Icmeler were like rivers (never seen anything like it!). But we also had a couple of days where the sun came out and it was warm enough to sit outside for lunch on the marina... and take your jacket off! You certainly won't need thermals, it's very much like spring in the UK.

Hope this helps - anything else you want to ask - PM me.
