Suggestions for staying in old village (but not too far!)

Hi all

Just nicely back from our second stay at the Eda this year. For lots of reasons I won't bore you with, we won't be staying there again and quite fancy another stay in the old village for our September jaunt. Last year we stayed at the Mola, loved it, but just a bit too far out, so we're looking for recommendations a bit closer in - I've read some reviews on the Prestij and it comes up very reasonably priced (with 3 holidays a year, we are happy with basic!). Has anyone stayed there? All we are looking for really is a decent bed, a clean bathroom and a bit of a balcony, we're not too fussy

Any other recommendations most welcome - along with where to get some decently priced flights cause at the moment September is looking more expensive than July!

Hello Noodles,we stayed there last year,very clean,friendly,they do not knock on the door early morning they wait till you have left the room before they start cleaning up,English girl on reception,only trouble is the steep stairs,we had our bed moved down stairs because i did not fancy walking up them full of beer,also they do not pester you to have a meal there.we always go the first two weeks in september.

I have just returned from staying at the Sahin Palace which again is in the old town but there is a supermarket and bars restaurants a few minutes walk away. Main square is about 15 mins walk with the beach about 20 mins. The wednesday market is only 5 mins away.
These are non ICR but you can book them direct but looking on their website or by room only if you search on the internet for Sahin Palace. With agent they are about £200 per week and about £270 direct but the apartments are large for Icmeler and the pool area is lovely.
Also heard the pinewood have been renovated a bit and people I spoke to said they were really enjoying staying there which again is in the same location as Sahin.
Hope you find what you are looking for.

We stayed at the Celik Appartments (thru ICR) one year and have absolutely no complaints. Very clean and even pool loungers washed down everynight. Nice pool and friendly staff. Food available but not pushy with it. Very near to Deja Vu Bar/Restaurant in which we had many good nights. 24 hour supermarket just around the corner. 5 mins to Wednesday Market and the Flag can be seen and got to relatively easily. Often walked into town with no trouble but many restaurants (like The Majestic) will pick you up by taxi for free if you arrange beforehand. Wayside Restaurant which is very popular on here (but one which we didn't try) is again very close.

We are going to the turgay appts on Monday in the old town so will let u know, they are number 1 on trip advisor but no one seems to have stayed there on here! Just hoping they ate ok! Will keep u informed

Hello,

Stayed at prestij last August and going again in 4 weeks.
Large clean apart. We had sofa bed and 2 single sofa beds in lounge/kitchen.
Pool area clean with plenty loungers to go around.
Adjacent to Dejavu and a few minutes from Tansas.
Bedroom is up some steep wooden stairs as is bathroom.
Clair and Genghis are a husband and wife team who run the place.
They stay locally and have a wide knowledge of the area and nothing is too much bother.
Would highly recommend these aparts. There are a lot of return visitors.
Happy hols, whatever you decide.
Towels and bedding changed regularly.
No pressure to eat there, but recommend as in par with others - great baked potatoes.

Hi Noodles, most of the aparts mentioned are close to each other and just past the junior school - prestij, senem, sahin palace, pinewood, celik and there's also Faber, Sevgi, Angel and I think Bahar

I think Turgay are a bit further out - snakebite, friends of ours stayed there a couple of years ago and they liked them. Think too maybe that we'll be near-neighbours as we're going to Club Daystar on Mon

Thanks for all the suggestions and experiences shared. Looks like there is a lot of good ones to choose from, must admit, that side of the old village is not somewhere we've ventured all that much. Only found out where dejavu was last week by accident when passing by killing a bit of time before a friend was due on the dolmus from Marmaris!

Would be good to know how you get on at Daystar Fanny, that's another one I've had a look at - is it over that side too?

Will let you know noodles! Daystar's more towards the Turunc end of icmeler than the places you're thinking about, which are more towards the icmeler market side of icmeler if you know what I mean
We had some great hols at the market side of icmeler around deja vu and last year stayed in town so daughter and our friend could have a bit of freedom without being too far away from the aparts. But this year, I've let her choose and it was a toss up between Mola and Daystar - her choice for those two and then I cast it to a vote on here haha
Am sure it will be great, am just hoping the trek to the jetty 3 times a week for boat trips isn't too much to bear!
Only 5 days and we'll be on the plane

I replied to your post a few weeks ago regarding Turgay aparts. we've stayed there three times before and had a great time each time. they are on the other side of the village to the prestij and pinewood aparts, but it's still only a 5 minute walk between them all. wembley bar, sidiks restaurant are really close by, deja-vu, wayside, captain sinbads, cafe Rose are all only 5 minutes stroll away as are a few pide places and also Robin Hood restaurant. Icmeler is almost set out in sort of grids and nowhere is much more than a 20 minute walk away except for the likes of greenworld aparts which are right at the back of the village which would probably take a good 30-40 mins to walk to the beach. Efem aparts are more or less next door to you and they have a good sized pool and nice food. sure you'll enjoy yourselves.

personally i would recommend julian forest and greenworld but as you said not too far i dont think these would be suitable for you
what about the majestic or adler behind it

Thanks for the suggestions Katie, both the Majestic and Alder are too far out - right next door to the Mola! Have seen some really good offers on Ince apartments too so might have to go look at their reviews. Certainly lots of choice, if only I could get those flight prices down too. Hoping for one particular airline as their legroom is great but they are pricing a little bit silly for the return flight. Could always stay in Icmeler I guess

We stayed almost 4 weeks at Kleopatra Apartments this year and liked it a lot! Not sure if it's exactly in the old village area..? It's right next to the Wednesday Market area, so if you like to do lots of shopping like we always do, it's very convenient dropping off all the purchases to the apartments and then you can go and continue the shopping...

Rooms were spacious and staff very friendly, not pestering to spend all the time there like in some other places we have been. We were a bit concerned that it would be too far from the beach ( maybe 5 min walk to the Tansas), but it was ok and we actually enjoyed the walks. Pool area also nice and always had sunbeds available. Would go there again.

that seems to be the problem just now
the outbound flights are selling at a good price but the return flight is a complete joke
well we will all just have to wait until they decide to take their prices down a bit

Just a quick update for noodles to say we're having a great time - the aparts are basic, clean and pool area is great with a much appreciated breeze to let us cope with the 40+ degree heat
The bar staff are great - offers through the day and week include bogoff soft drinks, spirits and cocktails
We paid peanuts for our 3 week stay and it's great value

Weren't happy with room we were allocated initially - massive room but balcony was at back overlooking kitchen area
Got moved no probs after a couple of days and same happened to others too
New apart overlooks pool and is half the size, but we're very happy with it

Air con is a bargain at £20 pw and safe is the usual £10 pw

Right next door to Rhodes aparts, and we visit there for food as it's nicer than where we are - but slightly dearer

Hope this helps - any questions and I'll try to answer if/when I get chance to log on the FREE internet - hahaha!! and also, they've got WIFI so daughter is made up
