Authentic Turkish Food

I'm looking forward to being back in Icmeler in 6 weeks and would like to be a bit more adventurous this year. When my daughter was younger we always stayed at the Prince Apartments and enjoyed the food and company there. Now she's older and will be meeting up with friends her own age I'd like to try and find a couple of places that serve authentic Turkish food. Any suggestions?

Kerem on the canal. A little more expensive than lots of places but nice for a special meal. It gets mixed reviews on this forum but we have always found it very good. Lovely meze plate and lamb casserole. Selem or Selen? is another authentic restaurant. Not to be confused with Selen hotel. It is down one of the back streets away from the busier areas. I am sure someone on the forum will give you directions. Sibil and her husband are very friendly and have an authentic turkish menu.The proof is in the eating, as everyone is looking for different things the only answer is to try.

I went to a lovely Turkish cafe the first time I went to Icmeler last October, there were only Turkish people eating and the food was delicious and cheap, they didn't serve alcohol which was fine with me. I can't remember what it is called, neither can my dad, he said it was a hospital or doctor's (can't remember which one he said). I'm going two weeks tomorrow so I'll find out exactly where it is and what the name is. I put a photo of the meal I had there on the photo gallery.

The restaurant is actually in the garden of her house, the tables are surrounded with vines and plants.

True Turkish food at its best but she also throws in some favourites for the kids as well.

Wednesday and Fridays are the special turkish nights and it's best to book for one of these.

I went on a jaunt to Kusidasi last year , and a elderly chap on the front was selling what looked like "scotch eggs" but they were crisp and very very sweet, this i think was real turkish food it was absolutly delicious,can anyone give me the name of it please so i can ask for it when i get to Icmeler.

I like Kerem for good Turkish food - found the service slow but hey, what the rush when you're on holiday!!!

Luckely I have some Turkish friends here and when there Uncle is making Lokma they always give me a ring

Homestyle turkish food, try Kayra Turkish Kitchen, follow side road from tansas - as if walking up towards school. it is before Wayside, gorgeous food and very cheap. my husband is turkish we ate here 3 evenings out of our 10. also Cihan Ocbasi - on siteler road to marmaris (you will drive past on normal icmeler/marmaris dolmus), curved building with big windows all round, set in gardens, not far past where the siteler dolmus park-up is. very nice, turkish grill house, mezes and mixed meats etc.

Theres a new restaraunt openeing this year where the Lemon Tree was, have to wait for the holiday makers to come back though to get their reviews of it

If you stayed at the Prince Apartments then you may remember, Kazim (baldy ex head waiter), DJ Umit, and Omer (ex barman). They have set up their own place called 'Home'. Its on the same street as the enterance to the Prince Apartments..just up at the other end next to Havana bar and across from the Blue Rainbow Hotel. Kazim is doing a lot of the cooking and had a lovely selection of Turkish dishes on the menu. Iskender kebab and Izmir kofte are delicious
