Merhaba
I had Turkish lessons for a year but found it quite hard going. Learning the basic verbs is OK but it's the grammar side that is difficult. However if you stick at it it does get easier. I bought a Linguaphone (don't think I have spelt that properly) CD which is quite good and helps with the pronounciation. Good Luck!

Bir is one (pronounced as it looks), Iki is two (pronounced Ickee), Uc is three (pronounced oooch), Dort is four, (pronounced dirt) and Bes is five (pronounced besh).

The only thing I can say & be understood is 'iki tane sise bira' - 2 beers please.
The only thing is I drink vodka
Would it be 'iki tane sise vodka'

Hey Colette,
Your right it is 2. I can only count up to two in Turkish. Bir is one and iki is two. I always get stuck on three and above.
However, I bought the linguaphone teach yourself Turkish CD's. I have started to learn and know a few words but find the pronounciation quite difficult at times.
Bye for now. The Turkish for goodbye is a long word unless your replying and then it is Gule Gule.
