Postby Kevin & Carol » 11 May 2005 18:43

We visited in June & last two weeks in September 2004. The train did not run in June, but was running in September. It did need a lick of paint & new seat covers :!: :?

October 04

Postby JayJay » 12 May 2005 08:30

we were there for first 2 weeks in October and the train was running every day.... from 8amish to 7pmish...

The train is an excellent idea! It came past our place every 30-40 mins,,, and its really cheap... about 25p although we couldn't work out why it was 250,000 some days and 500,000 other days ???

we used it almost every day (I have bad Arthritus in my knees so walking long distances can be painful)

Also it is a nice chance to see the old village and all the new buildings/hotels right at the back of the town,,,

I was hearing that whistle in my sleep for months !!!
Mr Train man..... see ya later aligator!!!!

Well, apparantley the train didn't run for a while,as the young lad that worked on it was killed under the wheels,he fell off,and was run over, thats what I was told last year anyway.I was there inSeptember, and it was running, but not very frequently. :( :( :(

icmeler train

Postby loobylou » 15 May 2005 15:34

Apparently it wasn't running as much last year because the local council stopped it due to too loads of complaints from bars/restaurants. The train took people strait passed the restaurants (around Richards Place) and they said they were losing business. Thats what my Turkish hubby heard anyway. Hope it is running this year our little girl loved it. We'll find out in 3 days!

The train is actually a working tractor and during the winter months has to earn its keep doing all things that tractors do.

Had a walk round the old village when there in May and saw the coaches parked up looked as they were being spruced up fo the coming season.

Would expect them to be running about now as the season is really kicking in.
