Fan instead of aircon?

Postby cassia » 03 Jul 2011 20:59

I am on abit of a budget this year and as i am in my own apartment i don't want to fork out 70 pounds for the aircon for 2 weeks,.. i was wondering if anyone knows where i can get a lightweight fan over here to take over or one in icmeler i can rent? do not know if the apartments (bahar) would allow this though?

I doubt any apartments would allow it to be honest. Don't forget if you buy a fan and use it in the apartment, you're using their power.

To be honest one year we had no choice but to use a fan but it just circulates warm air around - useless.
I would either pay air con or not bother with a fan.

I have used a fan and hidden it in the wardrobe for the cleaner coming but to be honest a couple of days I forgot and nothing was said or done. You can buy fans from Tansas in Marmaris starting from about 17 lira but if going in July or August it will be chocolate fireguard stuff- useless! It is so hot in the peak of summer air con is a must. Friends of mine rented a fan and was dearer than if they had bought one.

I rented a fan in May, got a really good one from my friend at the gondol aparts. Hid it on the way in, and then put it in the wardrobe each day, apart from the last few days when I left it out, nothing was said either. The owner saw me taking it back and she said nothing either

We use our own fan to circulate the cooler air from the bedroom with the air con to the lounge it works well, The first three years there was no problem and we even stored the fan in the cellar during the year but last year they apologised and explained with the high increase in energy costs thay would need to start charging us for the its use at the same rate as renting one, I have no problem with this. I continue to use mine as its larger than the ones they rent out.

I would really try to save enough for aircon there is no comparison with a fan and after a day in the heat you need the relief of aircon ( in my very humble opinion ) 8) 8)

we always ask for a fan as aircon gives us both very sore & dry throats, never had a problem getting one, vince has already arranged one for us when we return in sept :D

I think John meant no fans meaning don't take your own.

They would have turned them off to save electric, as they would only be blowing the warm air around anyway.
