turkish shave

can someone tell me are they always new blades and are they hygenically clean thinking of trying a wet shave in icmeler andy to avoidng and any recommendation please.......

husband got one done in the old village last year he olanning on goin again the hygiene was second to none was there for bout 40mins welll worth the 10lira cant beat a turkish shave he didnt hav to shave for th rest of the holiday

GeordieDave In all the previous times I have had a Turkish shave they have used disposable blades that slot into the razor, each time the barber has unwrapped the sealed blade in front of me. I can highly reccomend having a go, its time consuming but very relaxing.

I agree.

Last time I went I had the full shave, a facepack, the hairs in my ears burnt away with a lit taper, A full head, shoulder arms and hands massage, it took about an hour and cost 20 Lira with Tip.

It was so relaxing.

I always have a couple of shaves and a hair cut in Icmeler. Last August went to the barbers near Harry Ramsdens, it was on the left side as you walked up towards the old Village. I ageed a price for what I wanted, 20 lira, they tried to give me a face mask as they went along, but I said no. At the end they tried charging me 80 lira !!! I refused as you can imagine, they said there was extras, including the glass of apple tea they had offered me and my 9 year old child, also a charge for washing the towel they had used. When I refused they said they were calling the police, I told them to do so. Whilst this was going on a customer had just sat in the chair, but he joined in along with his wife and refused to have his shave & cut. I paid the agreed price and walked. I then shaved myself when I got back to where we were staying, their shave was that bad.
I will still go for a shave this year, but need a recommendation from a happy customer.

i use the one next to the prince appartments, forgot the name very good ,wife has had her hair done there also and she was happy with it [new blades every time]

i used the 1 next to the wayside rest,
went every 2nd day when i was there in may and will be going back there when i return in july ,
excellent only 10 lira for a shave ,
8 lira for a hair cut .

Ive just watched a video of Ibrahim's unisex hairdressers who do what looks like an amazing shave/massage etc. Does this place still exist and does anyone have any ideas of their prices??

i use the one in the old village just as you head towards captain sinbads , great haircut & shave 20tl. it`s in a nice quiet area,no hassle, just sit back & relax,i normaly go every 2nd or 3rd day.

My husband has had a shave many times at Chikkos which is near the Turkish Delight restaurant on the main road and has always been delighted with the treatment he receives - total cost 10 lira and as said previously hair singed on ears and neck and shoulder massage. The manicurist is also very good. There is no hard sell although I was in another shop where the men were being brought in off the street with their partners and before they knew what was happening they were having a shave, facial and their partners were having eyebrows plucked, face packs etc. and one couple came out £25 worse off, so beware where you go into.

Excellent Hair - Its directly across from Romeo and Juliets and the Navy hotel. My husband has been going to see Yakup and his staff there for the last 6 years, 10TL for shave, massage and tea. Me and rest of family has had beauty treatments done there also, 1st class service from a genuine guy.
He wont rip you off thats for sure

I went to one up a side street across the road from Sylvia's restaurant. I went on holiday with a little bit of stubble and was waved at (not in a bad way) every time I walked by to come in. I left it for a couple of days and it was getting more beard-like and I must have been asked by about 10 different places one afternoon if I wanted a shave so went back to the first place I mentioned above. It was 15TL and he shaved me twice, rubbed some stone on my face, set fire to my ears, trimmed my nose hair and eyebrows and even got some thread out and started doing something to the top of my face which made my eyes water so badly. Massage of face/shoulders/arms/hands followed. Would definitely go back.

I stay at the Grand Aquarium in the old village and had a walk down the backstreets to a barbershop I had seen on a previous year and I think It's the same one mustaphabun mentioned. I purposely went to this one 'cos I wanted one I thought the locals used as opposed to one in the main tourist areas. I ended up going back every 3rd day for the entire holiday ,apart from one time when I tried a different one and got overcharged. Having a turkish shave is one of the things I really look forward to, so I will be going to Icmeler slightly unshaven this year , we get there early hours of the morning so by the time we've unpacked and had breakfast I'll be straight down for my first of many shaves, give it a go you wont be sorry.
