Alcohol

Postby jo_marie » 20 Jun 2011 15:27

Just reading the rest of the posts on the "fake alcohol" topic, and to be honest it makes me mad, spirits are one of the most expensive drinks to buy in Icmeler and yet your faced with either, fake alcohol, glass rims just dipped in alcohol and no actual alcohol in it, watered down alcohol or drinks with just no frigging alcohol in it at all  , we all work hard all year for our little bit of heaven so why cant they just do what they are supposed to do and what they are paid for and put the alcohol in the drink!!!!! sorry but I dont drink anything other than vodka and it makes me mad, been going to Icmeler for a few years now and now I know why I dont get drunk cause I dont get any alcohol, :? sorry guys rant over

Hi Jo

I must be getting your measures lol :P I've never had a problem with the measures except for when it's an offer that sounds too good to be true pricewise (which normally means less vodka)
As has been suggested check out the optics and we also tend to sit near the bar so we can see exactly what's going in or not as the case may be!!

Duty Free Allowance into Turkey is 1 (1lt) 0r 2 (75cl) bottles of wine and/or Sprite.

The customs at Dalaman appear to be relaxed but I have been stopped and asked just before the exit door.

OK own up who has been spiking my drinks for 8 years - had far too many hangovers in Icmeler for my liking and usually through Efes and Vodka ;)

To be honest I would personally try and avoid the cocktails and fishbowls as I have found from my experience that these tend not to be too potent ;( and probably high in profit!

I don't think you would get a warm response in any bar if you are seen putting your own voka into a glass of coke bought at the bar

You couldn't do it legally in the UK or anywhere else I know and would just get labeled as a cheap British tourist

News travels really fast here also as it is a small town and it wouldn't be long before all the bars knew what you were doing

That also works the other way JT. There are plenty of people on the forum and probably a few who will like the odd tiple or two. Why do we not test out the drinks in our favourite bars and restuarants, and if we have a little wobble on or feel as though something has happened to either our legs or the ground is moving, we can tell everbody that the drink in here is pretty good and has had the desired effect. I am like the rest of us work hard all year for a couple of weeks in paridise. The thought of getting ripped off like back here in blighty goes against the grain.

The problem with that Keith would be, you start slagging a place off on here or make accusations that they are either dealing ilegally or doing something underhand then it will not (hopefully) the poster that feels the repercussions of that but us

By all means praise a place if it has done good but as we are not a sensationalising newspaper then please do not print that or I will delete it but then there is nothing stopping people contacting each other privately about stuff like that and maybe giving the heads up

Hi if you drink vodka and coke and you suspect there is no (or little) alcohol in it, ask for a straight vodka and a seperate glass of coke, test the vodka and if ok add some coke – sorted

nala 58 you got it in one. I have always done this when my drinks have been drowned with ice to make them look bigger than they actually are, spirit first, ice later.

Once came back from an AI holiday in Menorca more sober than when I arrived and later discovered the beer that they were dispensing was the Spanish equivalent of Kaliber. i could have drunk two gallons of the stuff and still passed the breathaliser

Checking the optics will show that the right measure is going into the glass but you still don't know if the spirits have been doctored or not beforehand. We've never had a problem with any bar or restaurant and we have been to loads of them. Roll on July :D

All the restaurants/bars I went too seemed fine, I think most of them know that if they don't play by the rules then people will vote with their wallets and not go there. I *think* the fishbowl in Majestic had lots of alcohol in it, if only I could remember that night

thanks for all the responses, JT I would never take a bottle into the restaurant (and never have) in the UK or otherwise, I was just asking the question hahaha, any how think I might do the order seperate thing and see how I get on or MAYBE I am just such an alcoholic that it now takes more and more vodka to feel the effect
