Prices?

Postby jesslbr » 15 Jun 2011 18:11

Hi all, booked to go to icmeler on 22nd aug and was curious about restaurant prices so i went on the loveboats website to look at their menu.

For a spagetti bolognese its listed as 16.50tl...

Is this the usual sort of price i should be looking at.. only i expected cheaper :/

Hi jesslbr,
The loveboat is classed as a Top resturant, we tend to look around, you will find cheaper set meals and offers at other places. There is a price list on the tandoori topic, we've always found prices value for money.

As stated the Loveboat is a very classy place, but also understand the food you get in Icemeler is nothing like the pub grub you get in Spain etc, it is of a very high standard. Set meals are reall bargains though. Never had a bad meal anywhere.

As said the Loveboat is more expensive and you can get set meals for around 20 - 26 lir depending on chicken or steak which also includes starters and pudding....so 3 courses for around £8 not bad.
Also the chinese (we go to peiking duck) all you can eat for around £7 unless gone up. Trust me their menu for this is quite extensive and you will be absoloutely stuffed.
So many places that you will find reasonable priced meals.

We have just returned home from two weeks in Icmeler. Eating out can be as cheap or expensive as you make it. Many places do a set menu starting from 17 lira. We had the set menu in Tandoori Sizzler lovely meals. We also had set menu at the Mandolin.
Choice of onion, tomato or chicken soup
Meze and garlic butter
Any chicken dish, pasta dish or any pizza
Ice-cream,tea or coffee
price was either 18 or 20 lira. Great value and lovely food.Staff were also very nice.

Apart from a few more expensive places and a few cheap ones, probably 80% are pretty much the same in price.
My advice would be not to be to obsessed about the price. For example a set meal for 20lira and a set meal for 22 lira is a difference of 80 pence so go with the one you think looks the best.

tureky need to keep the prices down

they should learn from the greece once a cheap place to visit then they got greedy and where the tourists went they raised the prices too much each year

now hardly anyone goes and they now have empty hotels bars in many places

Hmm, think perhaps turkey and greece are in a different place economically loates? Greece was misguided enough to join the Euro and things have gone pear shaped for them. Whereas with Turkey, alchohol tax has gone up and red meat prices are through the roof, so they've got to pass some of that expense on. Not to mention the increase in people choosing AI

IMHO, set chicken meals and pide places are the best way to eat out cheaply - I know I'll get a far superior meal in Icmeler for £7.90 than I would in a pub at home

You can't compare Greece with Turkey, one is in the Euro the other isn't, and I'm pretty sure Greece would wish they was in the same boat as Turkey right now. Greece is finished. The prices in any euro zone are a lot higher now than 3 years ago but even countrys outside the EU have to compare to that or as close as they can without putting people off.

Cheap holidays are a thing of the past but if you ask any Turkish person (I might be wrong) if they wanted to be in the EU I reckon they'd tell you to ...off. I wish to god we would get out.

Apart from one visit to Spain I have always had my holidays abroad in Greece.
The last time I went was just after they had joined the euro, the difference in prices was shocking.
The previous 3 years I had always taken the same amount of money and always came home with money.
The last time, when they were in the euro we ran out of money 4 days before we were due to leave and had to drawer from the bank account!!
£7.90 in Turkey for a 3 course meal......expensive? Really?
The prices I'm seeing regulars on this forum quoting are the Greek Prices of old, and I for one don't think my review on my return will be complaining about prices.....quite the opposite in fact!!
