Julian Forest and nearest supermarket

Postby Tracyw1 » 22 May 2011 16:08

Hya all am new to the forum so hope you will bear with me.

We are going to Icmeler on 14th June but am getting rather concerned as we are staying at the Julian Forest which I am lead to believe is at the very very back of Icmeler. Can anyone tell me where the nearest supermarket and restaurants are as we are self catering. Or would I be better getting the dolmus and going to the big supermarket.

Help please!! :?

The Julian Forest is right at the back of Icmeler - I would think the nearest bar and mini market would both be at Tommy's, which isn't too far from where you are staying. If you wanted more than you will get from the mini market (which will at least have the basics) then you would probably be better to get the dolmus into the centre of the resort and go to one of the larger ones, like the Tansas.

hiya
i have stayed at the julian forest 3 times and you have chosen a lovely place
greenworld which is next door and the julian forest have their own little markets inside the complex
the dolmus the little local bus takes you right into the centre of icmeler in 10 mins and stops right outside the door of julian forest
hope this helps
dont worry its in a beautiful location and the dolmus' are frequent especially at night

I stayed here last October, there's two shops next to Tommy's, I think one is open 24 hours. It's about a 10-15 minute walk. Personally, JF was too far out for me but we had a car which my dad hired last time. Some people like that it's far out though. I wouldn't use the shop on the complex, it was very expensive.

We have stayed at JF for the last 5 years but not this year!

The complex shop is slightly more expensive but thats the price you pay for convenience. Its more irritating that you cannot pay cash, you have to have one of those silly armband things and preload it with Lira.

The nearest shop is about 15-20 mins walk, i personally would not attempt it mid day as it is very hot! It was fine until 2 years ago as there was a small supermarket a bit nearer, thats now closed.

The rooms do have good size fridges so i would make a list and get it all from the Tansas first night (the route the dolmus takes wont take you by the Tansas) The JF is the very furthest hotel at the back of the resort, but it is a beautiful hotel with excellent facilities and stunning views of the hills. The dolmus are very regular and there are always taxis outside the Greenworld next door.

The only reason we are not there this year is the mother in law wants to be nearer the beach and JT has promised me free beer on his tab at the Tandoori Sizzler for the duration of our stay.....

Eric the Viking many thanks for your reply

I was getting rather concerned about our choice of accomodation as even looking on the map it looks like it is at the end of a road to no where. At least I can relax knowing that the apartments will be nice.
I dont mind a walk so looks like I shall be printing directions for the Tansas and taking the pushchair with me to carry all the shopping back lol
We shall definitely be venturing out on a evening so hopefully we will find our bearings after the first couple of days and I too will be having a few drinks in the Tandoori Sizzler as it seems the no 1 spot to be.

Many Thanks Tracey

the dolmus stops right outside the door of greenworld and julian forest and takes you right into the centre
get off the dolmus at azra jewellers which is right in the centre and turn left down there and keep walking
past pleasure night club and just keep going
tansas is a bit down on that road
