understanding the lira

hi can anyone tell me what i should be looking for when exchanging money ie how much should i expect to get for £1 & is there an easy way to convert the prices to english money.

just used to the euro so bit scared i will get confused. ist time to icmeler in just over 2 weeks :D

As the exchange rate is roughly 2.5 lira to the pound at the moment (I know it's fluctuating a bit, but this makes it easier), think of it this way - every 10 Lira is worth £4, so 5L would be roughly £2, 100L would be about £40 and so on. You won't be far out if you think of it in those terms. That's how I tend to work it out, anyway.

ah thats brilliant thanks, i better write it down though until i get used to it. from looking on this site then it seems that turkey is much cheaper than other places, cant wait to get their now.

Yes I agree with Blondie but I usually print out a currency converter really helps

its not that hard to work out
just remember its around 2.5
its not hard to work out bills and things like that in restaurants
some of them give their bill in pounds at the bottom too which helps

40p english = 1 turkish lira
so just multiply the number of lira by 4 add a zero

i might have to write it down still as i think if i have few too many efes i might do my sums wrong & put my dot in the wrong place & think 40.00 is 4.00 ha ha :D
