The exchange rate breaks 2.5

Postby dj_sploits » 11 May 2011 13:57

Hi,
Currently looking at the change office down from ICR head quarters and they are offering £1 = 2.5156Ytl
I'm also assuming the supermarkets will be slightly higher
Always nice to know you will be getting more lira for your pound :)

2.3 this time last year in resort, a massive difference to this year, it was about 2.33 when we went last August. I'd be as happy as a pig in #### if we got 2.50 in August. :D

Is that rate for any amount of sterling to change ? couple of years ago got stung in the square, the rate outside was totally different to what you got inside ! I stood outside puzzled and walked back in to find a couple having a real ding dong, eventually we got the rate advertised after threatening to call the police. the advertised rate was for a very large amount of sterling pounds :x

I can't help you on that one. I always use re little supermarket by ICR. They tell you the rate and then there are no hidden extras :)

Someone said a while back the rate may well be a lot higher this year due to the interest rates being lowered in Turkey, maybe that's the reason.

I agree with Viking Pete. When I was there last May it was around the 2.20 and there was little difference when I was back in September. This is good news :D :D . I am beginning to regret having bought some lira a few months ago when it was looking much better than last year but ne'er mind that's life. Some you win and some you lose! I too found the rate in the supermarket below the ICR office the best for both notes and travellers cheques.
