Let me know as I'd like to know because my friend is on Vodafone and we're going on 3rd June. What Vodafone have told you sounds too good to be true though!

Where you are saying has free wifi Mary.
Just before you board the plane go into network settings and turn off data connection, when you arrive at apartments ask greetin face :D for the password and go into network again and turn wifi on, If you get stuck i'll sort it when I arrive.

Thank you so much for this post myself and my husband have iPhones and it would not have occurred to me to turn off the data roaming. You guys have just saved us from a big bill!!

Hi Don`t forget aswel as using facebook, or just browsing on wi-fi, you can also use Skype which on wi-fi is free with no calling charges. :wink:

Please remember though folks that connecting to Wifi in restaurants, etc will only save you money on data charges (internet/email, etc)...calls and txts will still cost you!

As mentioned above, using things like Skype will give you free calls if you phone is capable of it, and using IM apps to contact friends will save on the cost of txts when you are connected to Wifi

Just seeing if any one knows if whatsapp is free when using in turkey, I've got an iPhone, many thanks for any replys

I use an iPhone app called truphone to call back/text home when I'm connected to wi-fi. 1.3p per min to phone a landline and 15p/min to phone a mobile. It's cheaper than skype.

Skype doesn't charge if you call someone else on skype but it does for normal calls.

WhatsApp and other IM apps like BBM will be free if you are connected to Wifi when abroad. If you dont connect to Wifi you will start using data and so it will cost you.

Haha thanks Davie, looking forward to seeing you both again. I know there is the WIFI at the hotel, but I will also use it around the resort to update Facebook to keep in touch with family and make everyone jealous of the sunshine lol
