Prince Restaurant

Postby gh1878 » 05 May 2011 13:28

We have stayed at the Prince Apartments for a number of years and really enjoy the banter between the lads (Korai, Ali, Kaya etc) in the restaurant. Last year the car hire place next door had been demolished and the lads said that the whole restaurant was going to be pulled down and rebuilt but a lot bigger. Does anyone know if this has actually been done ?

Thanks.

Noticed that my post sank down the list faster than the titanic so I am just adding a note to bring it higher up in the hope that someone has any information. I should have asked Barnie to take a pic when he was doing his 'David Bailey' routine but didn't. Anyone out there know anything about the Prince changes ?

Hi there hopefully I can help!

I was out there last week and I cant remember noticing if the Prince had been extended. If it had it wasnt that obvious  but I can tell you that Koray won't be at Prince this season. He is with his girlfriend and baby daughter in Denmark this year. Kaya (Ozzy) will be working at Canary Bar on the canal this season and Ali is not sure if he will be at Prince or Canary. Hakan will be head waiter.

There wont be any music or DJ at the Prince this season, it will be purely food and drinks only which is a shame. I heard that this was because a lot of guests staying in the attached apartments complained about the noise.

I dont know if you remember Kazim (baldy one), DJ umit and Omer (barman)? They have just opened up their own bar and restaurant just round the corner. Its called Home bar and restaurant and it's across from Blue Rainbow Hotel and next to Havana bar.

Thanks Glasgow Girl,

It's a great shame about the 'gang' splitting up like that, we have spent many a great time in the Prince Restaurant almost every lunch time and for several evening meals during each stay. It was always our last port of call before bed too. Without Korai it will be a much quieter place, he always went out his way to look after my Dad (85) , saying 'If anyone annoys you, let me know and I'll break their legs'. With Ali and Koray missing too who is going to do the dancing ? My neice will miss Ali as they always went off to Eastenders, I even went there myself with them.

We met Kazim a few times last year, he said he wanted to open a bar. He's had a lot of health problems since coming back from the army and he really deserves to do well. We have an apartment in Icmeler and he gave us his mobile number and said he would look after it and do any jobs needed to be done. A very generous and genuine man. We also paid a visit to the bar where Umit was working as DJ (near the canal) and he was so pleased to see us all, specially my Dad who he calls 'Daddy Cool'. He phoned Kazim and he came out to meet us too. I can't picture Omer but I am sure we will know him when we see him.

I'm not sure about having Hakan (aka Mr Bean) back, he was at the Maestro last year and we went to see him a few times but he is a little dour in his manner, quite the opposite of the other lads there. Thanks once again for your information.

It is a shame about the gang splitting up and I think the Prince will be a sadder place without having them altogether but I'm glad Kazim and Umit finally have their own place. Ive known them for 7 years now and they are like family. My sister and I were out just over a week ago to see them finish their alterations on their own restaurant. After everything they've been through I keep my fingers crossed that they will lots of luck and success for this season.

Are you heading back out this season? I'm back out with my family 8th June. Hope to see you in 'Home' with the rest of our turkish family :)
