HOLIDAY REVIEW

Postby smc4761 » 03 May 2011 12:47

There will be a lot of people going out over the next few weeks. may i ask that you take a few moments to post a review of your holiday, any good points bad points, any restaurant and bar recommendations, prices for trips and restaurants, bars etc.

I have been a member of this forum for several years and find the reviews posted to be of great help in deciding where to eat and drink and also its helps with planning how much spends to take. As there are a lot of new members on here I think that this info will help them to really make the most of their holiday

Good idea - although we have a review section, it's a great idea to remind members, especially perhaps the newer ones, that we all love to read their reviews. As you say, it's great to be able to find out what other people think, the places they have enjoyed (or perhaps not enjoyed!) and so on. I know we've certainly sought out particular places to eat and drink based on the recommendations in other people's reviews - so get posting when you get from your hols, folks - and don't forget to upload some pics if you can too! :D

my favourite places to eat and drink are OKIMO REST/BAR [JIMMYS BAR].. LIGHTHOUSE REST/BAR... HARRY RAMS[FOR F/C SCAMPI ETC] PEK KING [CHINESE]...

if for some reason i had to choose only one place to eat or drink in icmeler the OKIMO would win out hands down for me..reason being jimmy and his mrs are very nice people, and the cleanliness and the food hygiene, and tables /toilets etc. are the top of my totum pole, by a tattie field. try it take my advice BILL & ENJOY

I love to read the holiday reviews. We are going out in 4 weeks time and will be trying the bars etc which the earlier holiday makers recommend. We are on a bit of a budget this year and have already saved almost £400 by changing our hotel from Casa Blanca to Mersoy Suites. We stayed at Casa last year and loved it so hope we have not made a mistake by changing. However, anything rather than missing our holiday in Icmeler. We will also be looking for more reasonable places to eat and drink so any sugestions will be most welcome. We will, of course, still allow ourselves a little holiday treat and eat a couple of times at our favorite place, Kerem, on the canal. We had thought of going A.I. but the thought of missing out on all the lovely places to eat and the risk of the hotel food being a bit repetative put us off. Any reports of how people find A.I. would be useful. My last point.... what do you do to save money at Dalaman airport on the way home? Last year we were unsure of the regulations regarding taking food and drink through passport control. I cant remember what my husband paid for a McDonalds and coke but it was very, very expensive. My apologies if I have rambled on a little but all these points and reports of other peoples experiences ensure we all enjoy our precious time in Icmeler.

Food and drink at dalaman is ridiculously expensive. take some food with you to the airport. there are plenty of supermarkets that you can buy bread, rolls, cold meats cheese etc

For cheaper meals try the "pide"places, either Nefes Pide or Kardelin Pide, both are excellent and great value. The saet meal at Tandoori Sizzler for 20 lira also looks to be great value. I also found the Red Lion to be great value. Several palces in the old village are also much cheaper than the main street areas, Ozzys, Harry Rams, Wembley and the food is just as good.

There are places that are more expensive although the food is good, Lighthouse, Waterfall Bonjour,Loveboat, Chef Wayside

Enjoy your holiday

We always take food with us and also drink, if you are not allowed to take it through have a good drink before you hand the bottle over and this will keep you going. We found last year that we had no problem eating our sandwiches in the restaurant and drinking our water, so keeping finers crossed it is the same this year. Must admit would rather choke than pay their prices (no comment from you JT!) 8) 8)

Hi ashington44,
For cheap food, we took a pre-packed 1kg,( long date), Carver ham for sandwich snacks on Icmeler bread. The other place's are Pizza Tomato , near Azra jewellers and Alins grill near Tansas for whole cooked chicken, or as said previously, the kebab or Pide places...regarding Dalaman airport there are two X-ray machines, one on entering the airport and one after baggage check-in.The second one is where you have to surrender all liquids. But in this area we found seating and waited there before going through passport control, we also noticed two Snack Bars, one at either end, the prices did not look Silly Money, but this was last September, We also purchased our Duty free at Manchester airport, the 2 litre offers for balcony drinks. Hope these Ideas help.

We take food and drinks with us but stay land side untl 50-60 minutes before our flight and then go through just in time for boarding the plane.

Go to agree with Bill Atkinson re Jimmy Okimo's. The food is delicious, very clean throughout and the music is good, although he will put requests on the TV's for sport, soaps etc. Jimmy and his wife are lovely people and would help in any way they could, if you have a problem. Roll on June :D :D

Thanks you are very welcome, I too enjoy reading the reviews and will also be scouring the forum for the new ones, forgot to add in my review that the price of a glass of wine in most of the bars is now 7lira and a large Efes was 5 lira small beer 4.5 lira.
Really enjoyed the holiday and only wished it had been two weeks instead of one week. Did not take many photos as i was too busy working on my tan.

You don't have to surrender all liquids at the second X-ray machine. Liquids can be taken through if they're in 100ml bottles, you can take ten of these in the small plastic bag specially for liquids, which equals a litre. Each person can do this and it's definitely better than paying Dalaman prices. I don't mind paying over the odds for anything but I hate being ripped off.We also make ham or cheese rolls with the fresh bread from the bakery and the fillings from Tansas. We also take crisps and fruit as well.

Ashington 44, to answer your question have a look at
