jewellers in Icmeler

Postby Frankiel » 18 Apr 2011 15:16

Hi all - Can someone please offer me some advice. I had a mishap with my engagement ring at the weekend - Caught it on a kitchen cupboard door and the diamond fell out. Luckily I found the stone after some frantic searching. I know there are a lot of jewellers in Icmeler but I haven't had any personal dealings with any of them so far, and I am hoping someone could recommend someone to me. I took the ring to a few jewellers in Belfast but it's going to take 4 - 6 weeks to have repairs done as the ring would need to be sent off somewhere. Since I am going to Icmeler on 12th May for a couple of weeks I thought I might try one of the jewellers while I am there. I vaguely remember reading a warning on the forum some time ago where someone left a diamond ring for re-setting and later discovered that an inferior stone had been replaced. I'd be really grateful for some recommendations. Thanks.

Personally I would recommend Firuze, he has done all our repairs and we have been very satisfied, typical repair is the following day unless they need to order something.

Hi Frances,
For jewellery, repairs or made to order, I would recommend you pay a visit to Dino at

"The Star Gold and Sliver" which is between Okimo Restaurant and The Football Strip Shop.

We might see you there as we head for Icmeler 16th May and we will be paying Dino and Linda a visit so if

you do decide to go and see him tell him Mary and John pointed you in his direction.

There are many Jewellery Shops selling new merchandise but do not do alterations or adjustments on their premises

so if you require a good personal professional work have a word with Dion.

Always had excellent service.

Hi Francis

I'd recommend Tony's - very reputable and he doesn't hassle. Ever. Very easy to find - directly opposite the L'Etoile Hotel, on the main street leading down to the beach, where the new fountains went in. Starchild will back me up on this - she and her otherhalf recommended him to me three years ago and I haven't been to another jeweller since.

I have been going to icmeler for 10 years plus and have always a guy called Janette. He used to work at Adler jewellers but that closed last year. He now has his own shop called Rose Jewellers. Everything I have ever bought from him I have had valued in the UK and it has always been worth a lot more. Whats more he has made jewellery for me, such as a diamond necklace and it is fantastic quality and it was a great price

We always go to Firuze and would definitely recommend them, we've always been pleased with everything, including items specially made. We used a number of different jewellers in our first few years in Icmeler but for the past few years we only go to Murat and Sona.

I also remember the thread about the diamond but I don't think that the jeweller was named. For that reason if I was looking for a jewellers I would only go to one that was recommended, just in case.

Dino also gets my unequivocal vote - tried him on the recommendation of friends a couple of years ago and was so pleased with the result and also of course the price haha
I was already taking a bracelet with a broken heavy clasp and planning on getting it repaired, then disaster struck at Manc airport on the way out and a diamond-set bangle broke
All I can say is that Dino made a 1st class repair and I was very happy to say the least - and just in case you're worried, yes it's still a diamond in the bangle  :D

Just to let you know too that Dino's a working goldsmith unlike a lot of the jewellry shops in Icmeler - it's more of a workshop than fancy looking jewellers
In fact a lot of the jewellers take the jewellry to him to adjust etc so if you end up sat in a jewellers waiting for a chain etc to be altered, chances are, they'll have taken it to Dino while you are enjoying your apple tea waiting for it to be done
He and Linda are so very lovely, am sure you won't be disappointed

Thank you all so much for your help. It's reassuring to have recommendations from the Icmeler Forum and I will definitely be spending time (after sundown of course) visiting jewellers - which I would normally try to avoid, being a litlle on the weak side when it comes to retail therapy.

Would anyone hazard a guess as to how much it would cost to replace a spring on a clasp - necklace and resize a ring? Both 18 carrot White gold. Have been quoted £80 in England just for the necklace!

Hi Frances, can I just add my recommendations for Tony's Jeweller too.
Lovely man, no hassles, just like Susi said........hiya Susi. xox

We had pleasure of meeting Starchild through this forum last year and after emailing back and forth we met up in Icmeler.... they then introduced us to Susi and Tony the Jeweller.
We're all firm friends and keep in touch regularly.
Sadly, we are not all in icmeler at the same time this year.

FOR SURE though, a visit to Tony's Jewellers will be on the agenda. From personal experience I know he is fair and trustworthy.

Hi Chelle

I can't recall the price Dino at Star charged me, other than to say it was a good one and nowhere near the price you've been quoted in UK
Also, remember to take your broken clasps with you and you can trade them in/use that to offset the price of new ones. At least that's what Dino did for me - esp if they are 18 carat!

Hi Frances
So sorry to hear about you accident. Personally, I would recommend Tony as mentioned by susie1962 and sunny. He certainly won't pressurise you into anything and will not hassle you. Hubby and I were recommended to Tony by a guest staying at our hotel, L'etoile...we stay there every year. Since meeting Tony, we haven't and wouldn't use any other jeweller. He is such a lovely man...very humble, friendly and 100% genuine. He also goes the extra mile to help you. Susie didn't mention it, but she discovered that she had lost a diamond out of her locket hours before flying home. Tony heard about this through a neighbouring shop keeper who susie had told, and who in turn had phoned,Tony who rushed down to the shop, took the locket and replaced the diamond within minutes of susies transfer arriving to pick her up. Well worth a visit.
As sunny said, unfortunately we will not all be together in Icmeler at the same time this year, but susie and I will meet up as she is out there the same time as us, and guess where we will be a lot of the time...yes, Tony's :D
Hope that you get your ring sorted Frances and enjoy your holiday.
