Sidik is the name of the man who owns the new restaurant. He used to work along with his brother in Efes Inn and 2 years ago took over Captain Sinbads restaurant in the old village near the mosque but this year he is opening his new restaurant - hence the name Sidik family restaurant. You must try it the food was brilliant at his last place.

im ashamed to say ive been to icmeler many many times but have never ventured up into the old village every year i say this time im gonna have a walk into the old village i never seem to get round to it ........so this time , inspired by your beautiful photographs Barnie im gonna do it. now what i need are instructions on where to start , which way to go and what time of day is best? ive seen the sign on the top tansas road saying old village i suppose thats the best way to go ....any ideas???

Best way is just to go for a wander, Beverley - if you head up past Tansas, that's one way of doing it, or you can just walk up any of the roads which lead up from that road. We love just wandering about and exploring the old village. It's a whole different side to Icmeler.

The village now is beautifully laid-out, clean,tidy,modern with a vast variation of types and styles of buildings. I only wish that a larger part of The OLD Village parts of which must of dated back 200 years could of been retained and maintained as a Museum.
Not only the tourists but also the local Turkish people would of seen some wonderful history.

Hi Beverley...I would suggest the best way is to follow the canal leading from Cafe Anne. This will take you to the area where we took these photos. En route you will see the Mosque on your left hand side...a quick detour will take you past this and through the "real" Old Village before re-joining the canal. There are some watering holes on the way, but would take water for the walk. It is worth the effort. And if you dont fancy the walk back then look out for a Dolmus.

I love wandering round the old village, didn't realise it was so big, always though the old village was up towards the Kelopatra and that was it. Then Diane walked me up to The Rhodes apartments, and last year we walked up to Tommys Bar and wow the sights are wonderful

Quite agree with you Colette, we have seen more of the old village in the past couple of years and think it is improving each year. This May we intend to have a good look around for apartments for next year, so fingers crossed.

We have wandered a wee bit into the old village but this year we will do it properly as we are staying up that way so it'll be like going somewhere new

thanks for all the advice im sure we will venture up there this time, does anyone know if you can use any of the pools at the apartments in the old village, it might have been nice to spend the day up there, i know in greece most places will accomodate you if you stay for a drink or maybe lunch but not sure if its the same in icmeler, im sure someone will know, as we normally stay near the beach or apartments with pools ive never invaded anyone elses pool!!

Yes, most places are happy to let you use their facilities as long you buy a few drinks or some food there. I'm sure you'll get a friendly welcome in most places.

Beautifull pictures. Weather looks gorgeous. Love the Old village, especially the "real" old village as it was when I first visited Icmeler 13 years ago. First went round it on the train. Happy days. xx

Hi Beverley. I always stay in the old village.Away from the hustle and bustle of the town, but there are many small eating places there. Take the Dolmus up to the Julian Forest appts then walk back down through the village.You cant get lost, as long as you have the mountains on the right of you and the sea in front. Another way is to follow the canal all the way down. Look for wild tortoises and lizzards on the way. I can assure you, you will enjoy the walk.
